No twitter alert Bold 9900
Please Login to Remove!
hey guys new here. Did a search but ddnt find an answer. I have a Blackberry Bold 9900 from AT&T. I am having problems with getting alerts from my Twitter acct. I have enabled all the notifications in the appropriate area for Twitter including new tweets, mentions and messages. i'm pressing "Try it" as you do when your changing tones but when i get a tweet.. nothing not even a notification light. I am getting in to social media for my company and really need this feature to work. Btw love my brand new BB ! Any ideas?
Thanks! Bill

Re: No twitter alert Bold 9900
Pull the battery to reload the OS. Also is this BB on a corporate BES. If so it may be restricted for this type of use.

No corporate server. Not sure if att could have
me on something weird though. I deleted the app and rebooted it but nothing. I'll try the battery I guess. Thanks

Re: No twitter alert Bold 9900
There's nothing "weird" for AT&T to have put you on. If you have BlackBerry data service and you are not using BES, then you are using BIS.
What about apps that may be in conflict? Do you have any kind of aftermarket alarm app, or something that extends/modifies alerts and notifications.
As tsac indicated above, doing a hard reset is the first thing to try, after confirming the alerts and notifications are configured properly. A hard reset is a battery pull with the power on, and wait at least 30 seconds before putting the battery back.
You've tried deleting the app and reinstalling.
If you do have any apps like I mentioned above, then delete those and try again.
Next step, I believe, would be to do a security wipe (see in the device options in the security section). Do a full backup first. Just install and configure the twitter app and try again. If it works, then just restore data, and then add apps one at a time and test in between.

Yes I actually do have an led light application. I'll try deleting it after the hard reset. Thanks for the reply.

Re: No twitter alert Bold 9900
Use Desktop Manager and a computer to do a full backup.
If you care only to backup select databases (address book, etc.) you could download and install BlackBerry Protect and use that.

Re: No twitter alert Bold 9900
shwuu Well I did a data wipe and it still doesn't work. It did seem to show one tweet in the notification box so I set up emails. Now I don't know if it was working for sure before email set up but it sure isn't working now. Doesn't make sense my old 9700 has all the same mail all apps that I tried to delete and some more stuff and it's popping tweets through like clockwork! WHAT the heck do I do??

Re: No twitter alert Bold 9900
Did you transfer the device in your BIS server? you cannot have both BB's with the same account. IT just seems like something worked until you set up email.
How did you do the email?

Re: No twitter alert Bold 9900
Oh hold up so I cannot have both email accounts on two different blackberrys?? I know the att.blackberry.net email had my mentions sent to it, and I for some reason could not set up this account on the new device. Is this because it is existing on the my other Blackberry?

Re: No twitter alert Bold 9900
Hi all,
I had the same problem before with many accounts. actually, it happens sometimes when you receive a mention or direct message but no alert shows on device.
This problem happens caused by Twitter server itself and has nothing to do with your BB device.
In such case i used to open application and refresh it manually to find any new mention.
Twitter services differ between devices and browsers, e.g: it may be working probably on IPhone but not on BB, it may work fine on Firefox but not on Google Chrome.

Re: No twitter alert Bold 9900
It works fine on BB, just not THIS BB. lol. My 9700 gets alerts and I don't hear this being wide search enough to think it's a problem for all BB users

Re: No twitter alert Bold 9900
bnjf, what tsac was saying is that when you are using another device, you need to make sure that device (and not the old one you were using) is associated with your BIS account.
It sounds like all BlackBerry service is working except the twitter notifications and alerts. And otherwise even the twitter app works, just not the notifications and alerts. Is that correct?
I don't know what to say. I was using the RIM twitter app for a little while on my 9900, but not a lot, and I'm not running it now. I think it was all ok when I was using it, but I can't swear to it.
At this point you could try reinstalling the OS, or try another OS. That's assuming you haven't missed something in the app settings.

Thanks you very much for the reply and to all of you. Just so I understand what is the "bis" account? Is that my att. blackberry.net account? Because that Is running on my other Blackberry. Would it then be a matter of deleting that account from the old phone? If so it doesn't give me this option. So I'll need to know how to do that. Thanks again!

Re: No twitter alert Bold 9900
See if the new device resolves the problem.
Just FYI to be clear, the question wasn't whether your BlackBerry data service was working on the 9700. The question was whether you switched the 9900 to the data plan. With the 9900, that should have been accompished when you logged in with your BlackBerry ID, at which time you would have been prompted to associate the 9900 with your BlackBerry data account. If you answered no at that point, then the switch would not have happened.

Re: No twitter alert Bold 9900
I traded up and it still doesn't work. I think I'll have to face that the att 9900 doesn't work with twitter alerts I guess. I'm too simple to figure this out. My head hurts. BTW I did put my id in but I didn't trade the old bb for the new one. It was a different phone so I don't know if that made a difference. I would think that the data plan I have would be good but I don't know what I'm talking about. I'm just frustrated.
