Default Bricked 8900??

Please Login to Remove!

I nuked my Blackberry Curve 8900 so i could perform a fresh install of the handheld software.

There was an error during the process and the phone failed to reconnect.

Now after trying to re-nuke or reinstall software nothing happens, i dont get anything on the screen, just red flashing light. (last time i did this sucessfully i had "no application linked factory OS on a white screen, then i could proceed to reinstalling software using loader, but this time screen isnt on and red light blinking)

Pc wont detect device, ive tried everything, tried the loader...nothing.

My computer dosent make a device connected or disconnected sound when i connect the device via usb.

i have tried with battery in and battery out. any help greatly appreciated.

I should have asked above, but you are not using a USB hub or USB port on a keyboard or monitor, right? If you are, use a connection on the computer. (If you are using a laptop or netbook and have a desktop available, it won't hurt to try on the desktop.)

Also, have you tried again with both the SIM and micro SD cards removed?

The only other suggestion I have is that others have reported having to make many, many attempts to get the timing right when there's a problem connecting.

The device is plugged into a main USB port on my desktop.

I have tried connecting with sim and memopry cards out and in and have tried connecting device to many other computers, i dont get a "USB Device not recognised" or an awknowledgment that the device has been inserted or removed.

its not even like im inserting or removing a device at all, pc dosent even register it.

What do you mean get the timing correct??

By getting timing correct, refer to Step 4 under Installation at the FAQ....Disconnect the device from the PC...Keep Application Wizard window open.....Remove the battery and put it back.....While the red light is on, reconnect the device.....When USB:UNKNOWN appears in the drop down list, immediately select Next...

Since it won't connect, start with:

1. Battery pull.
2. No HUB connection
3. Delete/Reinstall DM
4. Try connecting to AppLoader via the DOS Command Prompt

From RIM:

Here are a few tips that may help if your PC is unable to detect your BlackBerry smartphone!

1. Install the desktop manager software xxx8211; when installing the Desktop Manage software that came with your device be sure to Not have the BlackBerry connected to the computer during this process.
2. Always use the USB ports from the back of the computer; never use a USB hub or a docking station USB port.
3. If you have another UBS cable you can try doing that to make sure it is not the cable causing the issue.
4. If you are using a laptop computer disable the power management settings.
a. For Windows-XP and Vista do the following to disable power management on the USB ports
i. On the computer, right-click My Computer and select Properties.
ii. Click the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager.
iii. Expand Universal Serial Bus controllers.
iv. Right-click the USB Root Hub and select Properties.
v. Click the Power Management tab, and clear the Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power check box.
vi. Click OK.
vii. Repeat steps i. through vi. for each USB Root Hub listed in BlackBerry Device Manager.
5. If you have uninstalled and reinstalled the Desktop Manager Software trying using the following knowledge base article to do a xxx8220;clean uninstallxxx8221; of the software. http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/searc...rnalId=KB02206
6. The existing USB driver installed is for an earlier model of the BlackBerry smartphone.
a. Manually upgrade the USB driver for the BlackBerry smartphone by completing the following steps:
i. Right-click My Computer and select Properties > Hardware > Device Manager.
ii. Under Universal Serial Bus Controllers, verify that the BlackBerry smartphone is found.
iii. If an exclamation mark is displayed, right-click the BlackBerry smartphone and select Update Driver.
iv. If the Hardware Update Wizard prompts you to use Windows Update, select No not this time and click Next.
v. Choose Install from a list or specific location and click Next.
vi. Choose Don't search. I will choose the driver to install and click Next.
vii. Click Have Disk and then choose Browse.
viii. Browse to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\USB Drivers.
ix. Double-click on RimUsbNT.inf, click OK, and then click Next.
7. If you have another PC try using that PC to see if you able to get the device connected
8. If you do not have another PC then try creating a new user account on the PC and then install the Desktop Manager software on that new profile.

It's your call. Not a few over the years have reported success after 20 or more tries. If you've only tried half a dozen times, it couldn't hurt to go at it another 30 minutes of repeated tries. Sounds like you've done everything else you can do. EDIT: But Dubdub is right. Doing a clean uninstall and then reinstall of Desktop Manager would be something to try.

Also download and try BBSAK _ BB Swiss Army Knife. That will sometimes work when DM will not.

I have tried clean install of softwares, drivers etc but nothing :/

I will try BBSAK and get back to yous on results. i ended up trying that timing trick many more times over the past 20 mins and still wont pickip device.

People who have been upgrading their handsets and power has gone or pc errored suffer the same symptoms and their pcs also wont detect a device has been plugged in, il do some more research, i dont want to lose my phone to a software error lol

I tried the BBSAK swiss army knife for blackberry and even that wont detect my device, even by doing the timing trick also.

Last time i nuked my device and it failed it said no applcioation linked, factory OS. this time it failed i now have blank screen and red LED flashing.

Ive nearly tried everything, even other cables and computers and ports. I think i mightve created a fancy looking paperweight.

Multiloader...

I found the error code the device is displaying too, it flashes once, then a pause, then three more flashes (10111 Flash initialization problem)

Pretty much a dead bootrom then :( dont think theres a software solution for this either.

Ah. I wish that you had said that in the beginning. Multiloader is pirated software and therefore illegal.
