Default Blackberry Curve 8520 won't make calls or texts?

Please Login to Remove!

I got a brand new blackberry curve 8520 a few hours ago on Orange network from their website. The sim card that it came with says 'Sim not provisioned:2'.

So I put in my old sim card which is which I wanted to do anyway but when I put the old sim card in it won't recieve calls or send them or send texts. So I try another sim card and the same thing happens, they work fine in other phones but they won't work in my blackberry.

Anyone know what the problem is?

Either the BlackBerry is defective or your account is borked. In either case you should go back to Orange and have them resolve it.

Did you register your sim for blackberry data services with your phone provider?

I don't think so no.

Am I supposed to do something with my BB when I get it? All I did was register my sim card on the Orange website and then put it in the BB.

I think they messed up the new SIM card when they provisioned it. I'd go back to an Orange shop and have them re-provision it. The lack of phone/sms leads me to believe the SIM card doesn't contain the necessary account into. Even without a BlackBerry data plan the phone and sms should work.

Try taking our current SIM card out of your BlackBerry and putting it in a regular Orange cellphone. If that regular cellphone cannot make calls or send an sms message, it's definitely the SIM card itself.

I actually tried the sim with a different card and it did the same thing,it says limited service so there's definitiley something wrong with the sim but I don't understand why my other sim cards don't work in my blackberry when they work in other phones. I'm so confused.

rambo47's suggestion of a defective BB may be the problem.

It is extremely rude to ask unrelated questions in another person's thread.

To answer your question, a 3 SIM card will not work in an 8520 as it is not a 3G device. You will need a 9000 or 9700 and a BlackBerry service plan from 3 in order to use BlackBerry.
