What version of OS did you install? Was it for the 8800 specifically?

You may need to wipe with Jl_cmdr (see our FAQ) and reinstall another OS version.

Remove the media card and see if that clears the problem up.

I'm assuming you upgraded from OS 4.2 to 4.5

@ DubDub, I installed the one for the 8800 through this website. Should i still go ahead and wipe it off?
@ jsconyers, I'll try that, and if the issue gets resolved, does that mean, I can't use a media card with the phone ?
I did upgrade from 4.2 to 4.5

No it doesn't. If removing the card resolves the issue, then there's a fix for it. Let us know your results.

You can try to do it with the media card in your BB, you may be able to move the media from the card to the PC before the device reboots. It may be worth a shot.

Try deleting the file BBThumbs.dat from your pictures folder.

I tried doing that multiple times, but everytime I put the card back in....it reboots. The last time it rebooted even without me going to the media folders (music, pictures etc). So now I am really at my wit's end, whether the problem is with only that folder or in general with the card. And all this happened after wiping the card with a media reader, formatting it in the phone and trying to browse files after reloading the card....

I would wipe the card again and move each folder back one at a time. This will determine which one is causing the issue. From there, then you can locate the exact file causing the issue.

Well, so far, I've moved my music and ringtones folder back on the card and using the phone for the past 5 hours. Seems to be working. I also think it's an issue with the pictures folder. Coz everytime earlier, i'd try to browse that, and the phone would reboot. So I'll just go back home (at work now) and get this sorted...will keep you posted though.
Must say you're a gift from heaven jsconyers....i was devastated when the phone wouldn't work.
Thanks to you and this awesome site....

Talking All's well with the world now

Done checking and replacing the pictures in my pictures folder, phone's working like a charm. had to un use a lot of pictures but that's chicken feed compared to the fact that the phone's ok, and working faster than before with the new OS.

Once again, thanks Jsconyers and this website..really really appreciate your help....

All's well with the world again....
