Okay so I've recently bought a Blackberry Curve 8520.
My contract plan is the £25 Dolphin on Orange. This includes 300 mins, unlimited texts & unlimited internet.
My internet, BBM, App world, Facebook etc. will not work. I get the error message "This is a Wi-Fi service. Please ensure your device has an active Wi-Fi connection and try again." how can this be fixed?
I contacted Phones4u and they told me to contact Orange - I don't see why though since my contract is with Phones4u?
Anyway, any help will be much appreciated!

You need to have a specific BlackBerry Data Plan or add on for those services to work. Even on WiFi.

The Wi-Fi works fine, it's just with me having internet on my plan I would have expected the internet to at least work?

Nope. You need the proper service books and a connection to RIM which only come with the Blackberry dataplan.

1. NJ is correct, the BlackBerry requires a specific BlackBerry data plan, not a generic "internet" plan.
2. It sounds like your reseller - Phones4u - doesn't understand the BlackBerry and didn't sell you an appropriate plan.

It's not their fault. The contract is originally with a Samsung Wave but I got bored of the phone so decided to buy a pay as you go Blackberry.

I thought I would need the Blackberry services but didn't think this would be necessary to use the internet since the internet is included in my plan. Kinda stupid really..

It's not stupid at all. BlackBerry is primarily a service, hence the reason you need a BlackBerry data plan. The devices they manufacture are really just used to give you access to the services they provide.

hi i am in new york and i use tmobile. i just got the blackberry storm2 and i have no data service and email setup is refusing to activate my phone. called my service provider and they requested for an activation code that is supposed to be in the pack of the phone but its not there and i am so frustrated!! please what do i do i need serious help please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Call T-Mobile and ask them to add a BlackBerry data plan to your account. Once you have that active on your account you'll have no problems setting up email, getting the internet, Facebook, etc. But you've got to have a legit BlackBerry plan. You don't need any special code from the box.
