Software For BlackBerry® Bold (TM) 9000 smartphone
BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.6.0.518 (Multilanguage)
Package Version: 4.6.0.518
Consisting of:
* Applications: 4.6.0.303
* Software Platform: 4.0.0.248
* File name: 9000M_PBr4.6.0_rel518_PL4.0.0.248_A4.6.0.303_MobiT el_Bulgaria.exe
* File size: 96.81MB
Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.
Download: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...30A8394B7218EF
1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.
The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the AppLoader says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

Very nice update, however the GMAIL App no longer works. Tried reinstalling, still no go.
That is a must for me unfortunately, so I guess I will need to go back to 301 .

Since this update is out and bbm 5 has come out, does that mean we are coming closer to os 5.0?

as BIS 2.8 is out and done and half the new features require OS 5, then yes, it should be soon.

Also available from Vodafone DE (which I think is Germany)
[url=http://www.vodafone.de/hilfe-support/blackberry/133455_154633.html]
With T-Mobile and Vodafone both supporting it, you would think it must be fairly solid.
Thanks to Bolin on the .301 thread for the link.

I have a Bold running 266 - it's fine apart from the memory leaking which seems to have got much worse with BBM 5. This handset is 'off data plan' at the moment (cos I'm trying a Curve 8900 on my data plan) but it has retained the BB Hotspot Browser, maps etc etc and I'm quite happy with it (the only thing that I can't get to work with wifi is the Gmail app).
So, my question to the experts is this: if I do an OS upgrade, will I risk losing the Hotspot browser etc since I can't re-send service books (and, no I can't whack the Curve SIM into it temp as I will lose my intro deal benefits that came with the 8900).
Appreciate your advice....

Anyone notice much of a difference between this and 301? I think I might wait for the next release unless if there's some benefits to this.
Or perhaps I'll be bored this afternoon and install it anyway :D

How is the battery life?
When I tried 301, I noticed calls made my battery just drain so fast, but going back to 282 everything is fine again.
I don't use any apps that would be constantly be connecting to a network, and I have wireless and bluetooth turned off.

tmac, I believe not, you'll need a release with the words "EastAsian" in the file name.
I don't recall seeing THIS OS release with a EastAsian component, but I know there is EastAsian in this download for the Bold here:
