Hello,

I am going to try to upgrade my GW 6.5 server to 7.1 tonight. I am fairly new to this job and realized that I didn't take BES into account when planning my upgrade (although I am very familiar with GW). I am running BES 4.0.6.7 (at least that's the version it says in under Help->about in BB Manager) on an updated W2k server box. My groupwise client is 6.5.7 (dated 11/6/2006). I know that the groupwise client I have will work with GW7, but I know very little about BES other than how to manage it through BB Manager. Is there anything I need to take into consideration when upgrading or should everything work fine without touching BES? Will this version work with the GW7 client or should I leave it with the 6.5.7? Any other words of wisdom for a noob BES admin would be greatly appreciated as well.

I'm new to BES myself but I'm running GW 7.0.2 and using the same 6.5.7 client (also dated 11/6/2006) and it works fine. I never was able to get any 7.0 client to connect. I am using the API connection and not SOAP.

After doing some more reading I have noticed that people are having trouble with anything other than 6.5.7 (including the soap interface). I meant gw7.0.2 by the way, not 7.1 (which doesn't exist).

Thank you for your response though, it makes me feel better. I have a PO with 1500 users and I am nervous enough about upgrading without having to worry about BES.
