Default Some newbie questions

Please Login to Remove!

I have only had my pearl for a couple weeks and it is my first BB, so bear with me please. I have searched for the answers to these questions, but didn't find anything that helped.

I have a couple of questions. I am using the Today plus theme. The two calendar entries that show up on the default screen are day/month rather than month/day, which is very confusing to me. Is there any way to change this?

Also, I do not have a messaging package from t-mobile. What is the difference between SMS and BB messaging? Is there any way to text people without incurring messaging charges from t-mobile?

TIA.

For Tmo, you can get the unlimited texting for around $10 (it includes picture messaging) the difference between the BB messenger and the texting is that the BB uses the data plan and texting it doesn't. Neither one is faster than the other. There is no way to text people from your BB phone without incurring charges. You can get the data plan and then you can surf to Tmos web site and text people from there, but either way, you are still paying for something. I believe per text message costs $.15 cents.

I have tmo's data plan. Does that mean that I can use the BB messenger without incurring additional charges?

Yes, you can use the BB messenger without incurring additional charges. You can also use your e-mail to text someone without incurring charges, on the "To:" part type the phone number followed by @Tmomail.net if it's Tmo, if they have a different carrier do a google search for it.

Yes, the BB messenger is only to other BB users with a data plan. Feel free to spread it around...

Not sure what you're talking about. Where are you trying to change the date?

Instead of having dates show on the default screen as day/month, I want them to show as month/day, using the Today Plus theme. Not in the calendar app itself, just on the "home page" for lack of a better term, where it lists Messages, Call Log and Calendar.

on the today plus, the date / month format you are referring to is part of the encoding for that theme, that theme was originally designed for a european market, as I'm told that is a common format

no way to change that, unfortunately

Thanks for letting me know. At least now I can stop searching endlessly for a way to change it and devote my energies toward learning to live with it.
