The lesson here is that
you learned not to trust support reps. We learned that long ago. Support reps aren't paid to know the latest details about an upcoming product/software update/etc. They are paid to know how to read a script and "troubleshoot" issues for customers (based off the concept that all customers are created equal, and therefore must be stupid).
