I saw this week that there will be a 4G version of the Playbook available through Sprint this summer, but anyone have any information on the availability of a Playbook that will just be wifi and not have to have a contract with Sprint or one of the other companies?

The only available information on the release of the initial PlayBook will be during the First Quarter of 2011, probably in late Feb.

At CES, RIM hinted it might be later, although they gave no indication of a launch date. I have heard there are battery problems due to the QNX OS eating too much power. That could delay the launch until they get it resolved.
