Default Accounts still not sending

Please Login to Remove!

Hi

I have a problem with some of my BlackBerry accounts not sending email. Everything was working fine up until yesterday, then 6 of my 15 accounts stopped sending emails (3 are domain admin and 3 are ordinary)

I have manually added BESAdmin Send As permission to the non-admin accounts and followed Microsoft KB907434 for the admin accounts and waited 4 hours. They still aren't sending emails.

Any ideas as to why this should be?

Thanks
Tony

Have you tried a reboot or restarting BES services?
That should get the 3 ordinary ones going.

I have no advice on the admins, other than use "run as" or RDP.

Thanks knottyrope

I've just noticed on the non-admin accounts that BESAdmin has been removed from the Users security tab.

Not sure what you mean by run as or RDP

We've just had the same problem. You need to check that the non-admin accounts aren't in any other protected groups in Active Directory. If they are, you'll have to remove them and then add BESAdmin and tick the Send As permission. Otherwise, AD keeps reverting back to how it was before you added BESAdmin.

Domain admins are not the only groups affected by the Send As issue. Search BlackBerry Technical Solution Center for "send as" or "revoked". You will find RIM's Kb for it which also links to some useful Microsoft kb's as well.

Because your "ordinary" users lost the permission it means that they are linked to another group that is considered protected.

Also, after apply said permissions, restarting the BES does not fix it. It's the permissions cache on Exchange that must clear. You do one of the following:

1. Stop the BlackBerry Router service for 20 minutes, or 2 hours, depending on what is set on your Exchange server

2. Restart the Information store on Exchange

The whole point is to prevent the BEs from accessing the users mailbox which uses the permissions cache. The cache will not clear unless you prevent access to it so it can clear or restart the info store which flushes it immediately.

Read the RIM Kb, all the info is there.

Thanks for that gibson_hg. It seems as if the 3 non-admin were members of the print ooperators group. Removed this added BESAdmin (Send As) and restarted Exchange Information Store and everythig hunky dory. Just got to sort out the domain admins
