Question blackberry email and hotmail

Please Login to Remove!

The reason why I got a new blackberry was to be able to access my hotmail account. I setup my yahoo account with no problem and when I went to set up my hotmail accounts, I got a message saying that I needed hotmail plus in order to have access to my hotmail.

Now, I'm sure there is a way to go around this problem. Anyone has any suggestions? Please help!!!!!!!!!

You have to subscribe to Hotmail inorder to be able to use its POP3 service.

i believe there's a simple solution... just use a worthwhile email service and drop hotmail ;)

You either need Hotmail Plus, or I'm not even sure if Hotmail can do this, but if you can forward your mail, you could send it to your blackberry.net email.

^^

I would recommend having it forwarded. Then just check your blackberry.net email account. There is virtually no delay when you do it this way. If you have your BB check your actual email accounts, then there is 15 minute delay. Quite annoying.

Thanks for the replies. If forwarding does not work, I'm changing email service. I tried gmail once but I got a message saying that I needed an invitation from someone that is already a member. I'm in Canada so I'm not sure if gmail will work for me.

hey guys,

I dont have hotmail plus but I get hotmail just fine to the blackberry. I think what you need to do is sign up for the new windows live mail beta. It turns your web hotmail account into something that looks and acts like outlook express. You also get more storage space.

Maybe for signing up for windows livemail beta you get the pop access as an incentive. Not sure, I just know that mine works and I dont pay for anything

I don't know how true this is but someone told me that the reason my hotmail works with my BlackBerry is because my hotmail account is an old one. I was told that hotmail accounts 3+ years old will work but all the newer ones you need to subscribe to. I don't know if this true or not but hotmail works just fine on my BlackBerry and always has with no problems.

Nitty,
I assume you're on Cingular? I know that Hotmail will not work on Pearl on T-Mobile, irrespective of how old your account is. My Hotmail account is almost 10 years old (!) and I can access it using any POP3 client like Outlook, but my Pearl on T-Mobile does not/will not work on it.

I'm a Rogers Wireless subscriber in Canada and my hotmail account is approximately 8 years old. It's too bad hotmail isn't available to T-Mobile subscribers who have hotmail accounts.

THIS IS INCORRECT. Yahoo and GMAIL with BIS 2.0 is instant. Has been for a while now.

Hotmail won't work unless you pay. It is worth the change to Yahoo or GMAIL.

To forward Hotmail you need to have their premium (or plus or whatever) paid account. You cannot forward a free Hotmail account.
