All. of a sudden this morning a smiley face appeared on my home page (am using iCurve today theme, but it appears on any theme I put up). Next to the smiley face is what looks like a yellow envelope with the number 1 next to it, but its not in the same place as the message count. Have checked voicemail, MMS, SMS and everything else I can think of, but don't know what it is. Can anyone help?
I have the feeling I'm going to feel really dumb when I do find out---its probably obvious to everyone but me.

it's a BlackBerry Messenger notification.

It's a BB Messenger message. Somebody is trying to chat with you! Open the BB Messenger and you will be able to review it and it will clear from your home screen!

I just knew I"d feel dumb.....tks for replies. Never used BB Messenger before, so I guess that explains it. I feel another distraction coming on...........<G>

Since you have your PIN in your signature you will probably get some PINS from other members.

I've just had a smily face show up on my home screen and I don't have blackberry messenger loaded on my blackberry. Is there anything else it could be? How do I find out, and how do I get rid of it? I don't want to do a bunch of chatting on my blackberry, I'm in Canada and my data plan costs too much for this sort of thing. A little help from the experts here would be awsome.

Well, I just answered my own question. It was an invitation from someone to be added to their bb messenger contact list. That was a new one for me.

I had the same smiley face appear on my BB screen tonight, and I opened BB Messenger, deleted all the Conversations and Contacts, closed BB Messenger, and THE FACE is still there. Now what? It just keeps smiling idiotically at me.... When I set the BB to "Quiet" it turns into a yellow blob that looks something like a beehive with a black slash mark through it.

A smiley face on top next to message means that the PTT Menu is on. PTT is Push To Talk. If you want it off, find the PTT icon and simply turn it off.

after turning off PTT the smiley face turns into a small blue ball....how do you get rid of that?
