Default Are my settings customizations preserved after I upgrade to Rogers OS?

If I upgrade to the Rogers OS, will my customized settings be preserved? (Such as profile settings, browser settings, notification settings, display settings for emails, my Today Plus profile itself, etc) Or will I have to re-customize everything, and re-download my Today Plus profile?

Did a quick search but I could not find a clear answer to this...

Yes it backs up and restores all your settings the only thing you have to do is change your wall paper back and also re-enter your APN info which is wap.voicestream.com

Default System and application settings after the update

I did the complete backup before the update, and it restored for me most but not all system settings. It restored the wallpaper once I copied it in the same location on the 2GB card. However, I had to reenter the wap.voicestream.com APN setting (as I was warned by MythmbHurts) and the reconciliation settings for the accounts that were not set on "prompt". All applications were restored, but I lost my settings for BBWeather (which I had to re-initialize as explained in a number of threads, including disabling the MDS proxy and reentering my location), and same with Berry411 and BBtoday.

I am not sure what other people's experience is going to be, but I thought I'd post as an FYI. Overall, the update was very smooth, and was worth it as it resolved the ringer issues and enabled me to use my 2GB MicroSD card.

Question

Hello,
I'm a new member and a new BB user. My question is that how do I know what software version I have on my BB. I have the pearl from Rogers and I noticed yesterday that when I turned the trackball light on the status light stays on after receiving a call.

I thought with the rogers software this problem was resolved? or should I update the software anyways. I got this phone two weeks ago. Lastly, when I went to the Rogers BB download page and I have to select a product, is the pearl the 8100g the one I have to select?

Sorry for the many questions and hope to get some help.

Go to:
- Options
- Advanced Options
- About
It should then say on line 3
v4.2.0.51 (Platform 2.2.0.32)

I don't have the trackball light issue with my Rogers 8100.

And yes, the product is the 8100G.

I checked the software version and I have the one that you mentioned. Should I update it again to see if the problem goes away? or do you think is not going to help to fix the problem in my phone?

updating the OS will not get ride of this bug only down grading to T-mobiles OS will fix that small problem. Or the easy fix is to tuen the trackball lighting back off untill a newer OS comes out say 4.2.0.61

tmobile os doesnt have some of the problems you are all having with rogers though.. so there may be no need for an update yet

Unless you own a 2GB microSD card. Only the roger's OS supports 2gig cards right now.

Thumbs up

I downloaded and installed the update and I have not experienced any of the bugs that have been stated here. The phone does indeed respond faster and the issue with the trackball is fixed.

i have T-MOBILE OS on my 8100...

the only problems that i got are:

1)message ringtone won't stop till it finishes (even if i read the message)
2)if a call comes in and i move accidentaly the trackball, then no ringtone will be heard.

i read all this thread and checked on this RODGERS OS update (4.2.0.62) and other bugs.

is it worthy to download this UPDATE from blackberry when i only want to fix those 2 problems that i have?

or

maybe someone can tell me the PROS and CONS of this UPDATE .62??

thank you

If those issues bother you enough, then yes you should upgrade. The O2 operating system is newer than the Rogers version and fixes some of the bugs that were found in the Rogers version. The O2 version still is not perfect, but its getting better each time.

If you upgrade and you find that you don't like it, you can always downgrade to the original TMO OS.
