No. It will only work on the 8310. The latest 8300 OS is also stickied at the top of this forum.

I am running 4.5.1.101 - 4.5.0.69. I do not have my provider XML file, but the BB website indicates that my software is up to date. It is better to update to 4.5.1.139/4.5.0.99? Suggestion? Comments?

Judging by those numbers up there the one you are running and the later version you are considering are beta testing os' versions.

they may be fine to use [i was using a beta .93 until .99 came out] but always have that beta tag of being a testing version and thus may have bugs.

the official version is currently at .99

AApierre, it is OK... my version was the official 4.5 version from UK provider, I believe. Since all of us are pulling this version from different providers, what for the UK was final, slovenian was beta. In any case, from time to time DM comes out to tell me that there is an update for my 4.5, but after searching the internet it says ok. Will give it a try. Thanks!!

* Software Platform: 2.7.0.84

Instructions for installing on ANY carrier's 8310:

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

Will uploading this software cure my disappearance of my TASK ICON?

Just got done upgrading... Everything went smooth.

I did notice a significant increase in memory available: from 8mb to 20mb... And it appears it remains constant... We'll see if that's the case or not.

Nothing much to report as other improvement. Camera works, browser works, all txt & messaging functions work. Sync after upgrading is always a challange, but it appear I managed not to make too many damages this time... I'll report back in a week or soo if there's anything else I notice

Ok, I have updated my Curve and there are only 3 issues I have.

1) No more thumbnail view in the browser (apparently the feature no longer exists, so I'll get over it)

2) Blackberry Maps is gone

3) Push to talk is back

I think I can go back and find how to fix #2 & #3, but I have a few questions about that process that I would really appreciate some help with.

1) Where can I find the OS we just installed so I can put it on my PC? I see several Vodafone links listed in the FAQ thread on these boards. Which one do I use? Does it matter since it is multi-language? There is no "vodafone slovinia" link listed, and I don't want to goof this up.

2) When I open Desktop Manager, there is now only 4 apps listed--my third party apps. Previously I had a host of BB apps listed, plus extra language files that I could remove. So now it appears I cannot even remove BB Maps from my device, in the event that I can't get it to work again. Do I need to reinstall DM or download different OS versions for this to work properly?

I am a little confused.

I use this method to remove PTT and it works great.

On a side note, regarding the problem syncing back after upgrading, I find it a lot easier if
1) make sure you sync BEFORE upgrading so your Outlook is up-to-date
2) after the upgrade is done and data are restored, don't sync yet but go under "Backup and restore", select "Advanced" and in the "Device database" column delete the contacts and the calendar
3) run the sync now and it will transfer the data from Outlook to the phone without getting anything screwed up

WizZk1d, during the installation I was given the choice to install support for Greek input, but I don't recall seeing Greek listed with the rest of the language packs (though I didn't really play close attention). If you run the installer you will probably be able to see what languages are supported before you install it on the phone.

Ipcapital, thanks for the tip. Somehow that file fixed my other issue as well (the one of not having programs show up in the DM app manager). I appreciate it!

From the looks of it, it has less memory leaks.

Can't seem to upgrade, I have DM 4.6 and downloaded OS 4.5 and uninstalled previous OS (4.2) from my computer (DM would not recognize the upgrade with 4.2 installed) and deleted the vednor.xml file. Everything was going fine until it gets to the infamous "boot ROM stage of death" at which point it reboots. It still has 4.2 and works fine but as you can imagine I am frothing at the mouth for 4.5 to work. Is there a solution to this or am I just doing it wrong?

Thanks in advance

So I've been having some problems with my Curve... long story short AT&T is sending me a replacement phone... My question is: Does the upgrade to 4.5 void the warranty I have with them? They were threating me that if they dont find anything wrong with the phone I'll get charged like $350 so idk if maybe that would do it too...
