Default BES Express 5.0.3 and Exchange 2007

Do I NEED a cdo.dll file on my Exchange 2007 box if I am using BES Express 5.0.3 (on a different server)?
I have MAPI32.dll and it is the same file version as is on the BES server. I currently DO NOT have cdo.dll on my Exchange server. I'm finding conflicting information.
