Default Rogers release date

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

This may have been answered but I am a little confused about the Rogers release date for the 8700. What I am most interested in when it will be announced and when it will actually be available for sale at dealers. Thanks a lot in advance for your help.

I've been trying to pin that down myself. Haven't been able to determine it. Been trolling the forums but no luck

Well its known that RIM missed the Nov.1 deadline for CRTC approval in Canada and it seems the device will arrive the Nov. 15 for regulatory (is that a word?) testing which means we should see a release there after and before x-mas in Canada. Keep in mind RIM could also have exclusivity arrangements with Cingular and TMo one and two on the BlackBerry food chain before other carriers will release to the market...

i almost consider it an insult that RIM would not make the 8700 available to Canadians on par with Americans.....

Food chain my friend, food chain. Cingular and TMo are one and two on the BlackBerry purchasing food chain plus 70% of RIM's revenue come from the US.

i think all of this releasing is just playing games with the NNTP and the US market to show that there is a market in there

yada yada yada... rumour this and rumour that. Keep spouting boys.. Rogers will release it when it happens..

Don't worry, you'll be the coolest non-rim employee for having one of these so fast, for about a week..>!

Too bad everyone at Rim already has one..

Yep... I have said that already, but you don't understand the difference between the product announcement and the release date... and ya... we'll compare how much I paid for mine to what you pay for yours... and sure... I know lots of people at RIM have them... once again... what's your point exactly?

either way, there's *unrefutable* proof that it's coming on a certain date from Rogers, no rumour..

what's my point? Rumours suck.. plain and simple.. look at the first post in this thread.. "i'm a little confused to the release date for rogers" ! no shit sherlock! about 10 people in this forum said they had an 'official' release date and at any given point in time there were 3 or 4 different release dates purported from these individuals..

either way, the drooling continues, and I am also drooling.

The price is steep though..

"The BlackBerry 8700r will cost C $499.99 with a 3-year service agreement"

oops, sounds like I'll wait a bit..

I absolutely agree... You know as much as I do that Nov 15 was the date originally set, but then it was pushed back... I said that it was pushed back, but never gave a date. I also said that the announcement was coming soon for the 8700r... like it's happening right now... something that I am missing out on... (thanks btw). Which would explain why it's on the RIM website.

You work for RIM headtailgrep... don't you have one already?

who said i work for rim? it's so easy to make assumptions on this board..

I've been a 'hardcore' Blackberry user since 2002.. and been using them since 1999 when a friend started an internship at RIM in Waterloo.. that's all.
