Absolutely love the program - will donate also....

I did have a Javaexception error after I installed it - and tried to run it the first time. This was resolved by pulling the battery. It runs fine now.

Thanks again!

I was beta testing another app (I do the beta testing thing on GetJar.com and submit reports) and it locked me up so hard (hard, I say!) that almost required a battery pull (*) -- I ended up doing a SoftReset anyways just in case, and got to watch that fabulous spinning hourglass.

(*) amazingly I let it sit long enough and the RIM OS eventually caught it as a nasty bad app and shut it down on it's own, about 3 seconds before I was going to yank the battery.

Soft reset - 0953:00 Reset
0954:01 Security Certificates
0954:06 EDGE

Battery Pull 0957:00 Bat pulled
0957:55 Security Certificates
0958:13 EDGE

I just applied the DST patch, and sitting at home I could do a battery pull to compare the times (yeah took me awhile).

...so, like everyone else experiences there's *something* different about a soft vs. hard (battery) reset - this is the same hardware, same OS, and same apps (well more or less, few new things) installed.

Who cares how long it takes... at least I don't have to pull apart my rubberized case every time I want to reset...

Great app!

Thanks for these excellent words of wisdom, I don't know how I could have survived without them. Wow. The point here is that we're having a discussion that this *does* matter to us, and we're discussing why a soft reset would take longer than a battery pull -- it may or may not be of use to a future version of Soft Reset, but it's knowlege gained nonetheless. Perhaps with these inputs metsfan may discover a newer/alternate way of doing a reset that's even better than it currently is, which is the whole point.

But we're glad you don't care! It was worth spamming everyone to let them know, huh? I don't know what's worse - threadjacking or threadspamming.

Have you tried it? I don't see why it won't work on the 8700 as is.

8700 can be reset from the keypad, alt-shft-del I believe.

1:55 to Security Certificates
0:17 more to EDGE

However, this won't possibly break the battery cover!

Maybe it's alt-shift-backspace (don't have an 8700 anymore). Anyway, it is described in one of the stickys.

Does anyone know how I can make it work? When I tried to delete aa_DeleteToReset, I get a message saying I can't delete since it is required by IT policy application control....

SoftReset no longer needs to be deleted to work. If you install the latest version in the first post of this thread you should have an icon on the home screen that will allow you to reset the device. Works well.

When I tried to run the app and choose the reset button, it gave me a message that aa_DeleteToReset already exists and gave me instructions on deleting it.
