Default OS: 9000 4.6.0.356/4.6.0.210 (Multilanguage)

New OS for the 9000 from SiMobile.si
This OS will load to ANY carrier's 9000 model by following the instructions below.
(Multilanguage version)

Details
BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.6.0.356 (Multilanguage)
  • Package Version: 4.6.0.356
  • Applications: 4.6.0.210
  • Software Platform: 4.0.0.181
  • File name: 9000M_PBr4.6.0_rel356_PL4.0.0.181_A4.6.0.210. exe
  • File size: 95MB

http://www.simobil.si/_static/upload...A4.6.0.210.exe

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

Hopefully this is more stable than the BETA version of .210 that has been out for a while.

Hopefully Ren&Stimpy above gets hold of the update before he begins his upgrade.

LOL...hope so. Might be pretty upset after the upgrade begins and then noticing there is a newer release already.

i had to get a replacement bold yesterday. our tech is updating it to .185. i'm not sure if this thread means this is a higher version i "should" or "should not" have her try for me today.

PS, IS THERE ANY INFO ABOUT WHAT THIS NEW .356 MIGHT HOPEFULLY MAKE BETTER? I'VE BEEN FIGHTING WI-FI GLITCHES AND U-VERSE VIEWING (THOUGH LATTER IS NOT AS IMPORTANT). THX

OOPS, I SEE .216 HAS REPLACED BUT SAME QUESTION COMES TO MIND. REGARDS, BT

Yep, btaylor there is at least one good thread over in the Beta section on OS 216 you might want to read.

Synopsis of it for you: Like most OS upgrades, some users love it, some hate it. You decide if it works for you.

And this OS is old now (.210), please look at the Sticky note for .216

thx. our tech put on the .216 for me

she has, like i have, been experiencing a weird WiFi hotspot issue (even post-.216). to use my firm's vlan, i have to answer an aruba challenge with visitor credentials. the visitor profile is saved, but i have to answer aruba challenge every time. for some reason when i switch browser to wifi hotspot, the change doesn't stick and i don't get my chance to reenter visitor credentials

probably missing something obvious!

thx and will play with .216 and report anything good or bad substantive in the stickied link
