setarris go into t he BBWeather application, click on the trackwheel, select options and then disable the mds proxy option and the IPPP error will go away.

Kon Tiki, I am getting the same error message; Error: Could not find a service book entry for IPPP. The MDS Proxy option does not seem to matter. Any other ideas?

Have you read the sticky thread by Mark Rejhon on the different TCP information you have to put in?

yes yes yes - i can't figure out why nobody has a straight answer to this problem. its pretty widespread from what i can tell and what Google returns.
in OS4 you can't disable the firewall from what i can tell (anybody?). i get the IPPP error if i don't disable MDS in the options. if i do, i get "The application BBWeather has attempted to open a connection to a location inside the firewall and outside the firewall which is not allowed by your IT policy" error message. i can't disable or alter the policy either from what i can tell.
any suggestions folks?

This worked...
I had to disable the firewall, try
[Options] [Firewall] [Change Option] [Save]
I'll investigate more about what this does...

if your on BES 3.6 it will not work if your on BES 4.0 and dont have it checked it will be fine.. if you check your service book you wont see a IPPP in there on 3.6

Folks,
If you use PocketDay there are more options. There's a special WAP only version for corporate BB users that have GSM devices. No need to shut the firewall off.
For Nextel and Verizon corporate users, unless your company has MDS enabled in their BES environment, no 3rd party internet apps will work.

not allowed by your IT policy... just a stab in the dark here... but I am guessing your BES admin has set a policy on your handheld of not being able to turn the firewall off... it's just a gut feeling though. If I would have done a search here I bet I would find that and swer though.

Go here and download BB Weather:
http://www.blackberryforums.com/showthread.php?t=6944 A quick search in the thread above would have given you the same answer.
