Please Login to Remove!

The latest IM+ has a "push" feature. You can exit the program, it keeps you logged into your IM services, and you get an email when someone sends you an IM. The nice thing is no extra battery drain keeping an IM app running. Sort of similar to BeeJive IM for the iPhone.

I'm testing it out now. Will let you all know how well it works.

Just got Instango (get.instango.com) and it is fantastic. Completely free, slick interface, supports all connection types, and supports yahoo, google, msn, qq, icq, aim, gadugadu, and jabber. One touch online/offline. Oh and did I mention it's free? Great app. Best one out there.

Hi,
I just received my BB curve from t-mobile yesterday. There is something weird happening though. I used to have a Samsung SGH-T629 with no data or internet plan. I was able to log onto all of the Messagers (yahoo, msn, aim). I used to be charged from my SMS plan that i still have. Now on the BB whenever I try to logon it tells me that "Service not enabled for this handheld". What does this mean and why is this happening? And if possible, can someone please tell me how to enable them? I tried to search the forum but there is nothing about messangers that applied to my situation :(
Thank you.

P.S. It does let me log on to the BB messanger...which is equally strange to me

Thanks again for all your help!

I found Palringo to be one of the better ones on BB, on your BB browser type in Paxmodept it will detect your device and install, great for MSN, Yahoo, AIM and more. that is palringo.mobi heh this forum converts it to a link immediately.

Just thought I would chime in. Right now Palringo and Instango are the two best free multi-IM clients (afaik), and each has strengths and weaknesses. For those reading this thread and trying to decide between the two, let me do a quick rundown.

Palringo Pros:
  • Better interface
  • Single sign-on (all your IM accounts are tied to your Palringo acct.)
  • better support for multimedia im (sound/picture)

Palringo Cons:
  • No way to customize the alert, other than with or without a sound notification
  • Higher battery drainage (your mileage may vary!)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Instango Pros:
  • Themes
  • battery usage optimization (your mileage may vary)
  • Alerts for new messages, new messages while Instango is in foreground, and contact coming online, all through the Blackberry's default profile editor

Instango Cons:
  • Must select each IM account individually with the BB button and log in one at a time
  • Slightly buggy picture message sending (no audio)

Hope that helps a bit.

Is there a way to authorized download of IM and still block user from installed other third party program? I look into the IT policy, the exclusive policy only for connectivity, but still need to have the IM software program which block by third party installation... any idea? Or script to by pass?

Seeing all the IMs out there, is there anything you like to see improved while you're chatting away? What are some of the pros and cons the IM you're using? Just exploring for the moment...
