I bought my Curve to replace my Motorola Razr and Dell Pocket PC, and do not have/need a data plan. PIBB takes care of 90% of my PIM needs. (My other need is a backup app that can save to/restore from a memory card.)

For a v1.0 release, PIBB is very complete and powerful.

Does anyone know of a way to mark a task as Deferred in Pocket Informant, much like you can do with the Blackberry Native Tasks? For example I have several recurring tasks set for different days of the week, but I am not always at work on the days that the task is set for, so someone else does the task. Right now I'm just marking them completed, even though I'm not actually doing them, with the native Task app I could just mark deferred, or even delete the single task and it would pop up again the next time it was scheduled to be done. In Pocket Informant, I can't defer a task, nor delete a recurring task, as deleting it deletes the entire series. Hope this makes a little bit of sense.

Hello, Jeff:

For this status choice you have to enter edit mode: Go to any task in PIBB, open it, go to the Status field and click it. One of the choices is Delegate, which I assume is the PIBB equivalent of MS Outlook's Deferred.

I hope this helps,

Efraín.

Anyone having problems registering PI. I bought the license since my beta expired. I then downloaded the lates 4.2 and above beta. When I enter in my registration key I click register, it doesnt appear to do anything. When I exit the About screen and go back the registration key doesn't appear anymore. A message doesn't appear that s up stating that the product has been registered.

Anyone else having this issue?

Once the key is accepted, the About screen does not show any registration info. It just shows the program version and build numbers, and its copyright info.

Is it supposed to give some sort of message stating that the program is now registered.. or registration successful? I did not get any message when I hit ok on the registration screen after entering the license key

I too like what I am reading about this app. My main question is can PIBB run completely independent of the default PIM apps? I am BES (Exchange) connected and don't want the two to mix. Thanks.

qPs1, I do not remember if PIBB confirms upon registration. I install updates on top of previous versions and it has been a while since I registered. All I can say is that once registration is successfully completed, the About screen only shows the program version and build numbers, and its copyright info. (Can anyone else answer this?)

slvrstrk, PIBB does not have direct sync w/MS Outlook, yet. At this writing you can only sync Outlook w/the BB PIM apps and then sync PIBB w/the BB PIM apps. (I.e., essentially using the BB PIM apps as data conduits.)

Once you do this, you could configure PIBB to not sync w/the BB PIM apps. Bear in mind that this will make PIBB a completely isolated app. Your data will not be shared w/the BES.

john.mccoy, the following link takes you to the WebIS PIBB Beta 2 thread. Item #3 of the 1st post has a link for purchasing the Beta 2 build:

Pocket Informant For Blackberry Public Beta 2 - WebIS, Inc. Forums

I hope this helps.

PI for BB may hve been released Jan 15, but as per their CEO yesterday in their forums at User Tips and Tricks > Blackberry Users > Pocket Informant for Blackberry :

"We have a working Storm version on our private beta. We expect to do a public beta and then release"

The true Storm version won't be out until end Jan. I really hadn't thought of software needing to be ported when I switched to BB from Palm. But then, I hadn't realized the Task app would be so bad.

Oh well, I'm here now - and it looks like I'll only have to tough it out for a few more weeks. Then I'll REALLY need the famed BB productivity improvements to catch up!

To be clear we haven't released anything in January for PIBB publicly. I didn't want anyone thinking we just released anything.

I hope so too The thing is that we're trying to do Storm support right. We've got our hands on a real Storm finally (they are hard to get) and there are things that don't exist in the SDK that we have to take care of - BUT its looking good. We've got rotation support, touch scrolling, flicking (to a degree), toolbars, etc.. The comments from our beta list are very encouraging.

Ksundar, the icons are not directly accessed, as a stand-alone app would be.

In PIBB press your BB Menu key > Options > Categories. Select and open any category to allow its editing, then choose the Icon option. You should see all the icons available in PIBB.

I hope this helps,

Efraín.
