Default Finally got a curve!! Now I have a question..

Please Login to Remove!

Hey Guys I've had my Pearl for a few months now and a buddy of mine decided to get a new iphone 3g so he sold me his curve for $100. his loss my gain lol. Now im trying to figure out if I need to do an imei change or if I can push my faves and service books to it. Im holding off on the data plan because my wife and I just got on a family plan together and I want to see how things go bill wise before I add data. What do you guys think? should I do an imei change or just swap my sim card over?

Just swap your SIM card, and log into your BIS site and change you PIN/IMEI there, you should be good to go

No BB data plan, then no need for that step.

I am not sure, but if you use the switch device wizard in Desktop Manager they might.

Yes, the T-Mobile Fav-5 application. I have never used it personally, as I have Verizon, but I am familiar with the app.

You shouldn't need to, unless you have your BB lost or stolen then maybe report the IMEI stolen. That is the one thing I am jealous of GSM for, the ability to just swap a SIM card out and go.

If you have insurance on the phone then I would call them and change the IMEI. If you lost the curve and called it in their system would most likely still show that you had a Pearl and would send you a Pearl as a replacement.

Besides it couldn't really hurt to give them a call. Doing an IMEI update only takes a few minutes.

Just did that on Tuesday. Switched from a pearl 8120 (gave it to my wife) to a curve 8320.
Myfaves transfered without a glitch. Went on the TMobile site and changed the EMEI # for both her BB and mine.
No problem to report.

If your buddy have a data/email plan on the curve before, you might want him to log into his BIS account, put a 0 in Device PIN and a 0 in Device IMEI to release the curve from his account, so when you ready to activate the data plan, your buddy's personal email won't get push to the curve.

And I got this from a tmo rep before, dial #686# and send to register you phone and sim.
