I saw that post as well. I think, because the OP complained about an ill-fitting case that he may have received a defective one. I have had an Obox defender on my 9900 since the day I bought it. I just checked today (I was concerned), there was no damage. No scuff marks. Checked my case and and how it fit. I notice that the bottom lip of the case doesn't actually rest on my bottom of my device but rather on the stainless steel band as my bezel is sort of recessed. Could be that my case fits well, or that my bezel is not where it should be. I don't know.
If you bezel is raised then I suppose you can get a Zagg-like material and coat your bezel. You can always get a replacement for about 10 bucks. I hope this isn't a widespread issue as I have always used one of Otterbox's various cases on most of my devices.
