Exclamation Activation Issue

Please Login to Remove!

background

Moving from Notes to Exchange
Cut over is at 5pm
We have over 300+ Berries to swap
During the morning / day we were going to backup, wipe and reactivate these berries.

Problem is that outlook (exhange) will not process Activation RIM message untill 5pm.

Will outlook process the RIM message automatically after that long? Is there a way I can get around this?

OR do I need to migrate to exchange prior to doing anythign with the Berries.

You need to migrate to Exchange before you do anything with BES.
There's no way around that.

the mail boxes have been moved over or not? With out the mail in them, no prepopulation will be done and you might have to activate them all over again to get the old mails.

are users activating them or are you using BAS or Web Desktop manager?

Is all the mailboxes enabled already?

I'm having a hard time figuring out what you're talking about.

Here's the deal... you can't do an enterprise activation on the handheld until the email address for that user is properly routing to the mailbox on the messaging server.
Of course, BES and the user's BES account must also be set up as well.

Whatever this "5pm cutover" is, you can't do anything on the blackberry until after that.

Im just trying to cheat a little bit and activate some phones before we cut over to exchange. I found that If i forward all mail to a target address the phone processes it

Even if you could delay the mail server (either of them) from processing the email from RIM, the handheld would time out and give up. I hope you don't have many of these shortcuts for your Notes->Exchange transition - I smell doom and gloom in your future if you do.

Restore prior... but only relevant PIM data. Don't do a full restore.

you have to turn off wireless backup on old BES first to be able to back that up.

Contacts, calendar, memos, tasks.
Don't restore device settings, service books, etc.

Your process will be as follows:
1. Full Backup of handheld.
2. Wipe.
3. Selective Restore of PIM data.
4. Enterprise Activation on BES/Exchange.

we synch contacts, and calendar for most users. should I be doing a restore for them prior to activation?

I've restored some phones after the activation and their memo pad and other settings came back fine. (contacts and calendar synch with email)

I ran into a user that didnt synch his contacts with his email and we needed to wipe his berry, restore his contacts, then activate. Because when we tried to restore his contacts after the activation is said contacts were read only. Is this the reason why to do the restore prior to activation?

would this not mess up contacts, calendar settings for users who synch their contacts and calendar?
