Thumbs up Verizon - What a Company!

Please Login to Remove!

I don't know if this is even the right forum to post this but I think it kind of fits.

A little background: This is my first blackberry and I was suppose to pay 114.80. That's because I ordered another phone previously and was going to receive a credit of 85.19. I had already received the $50.00 rebate card.

When I ordered the phone and return I did it with a CSR. I packaged my old phone and sent it back with the return envelope. Instead of crediting the bill they credited my Visa debit. No big deal so long as I got the money.

So the bill comes in today and there is no charge for the phone which I've had for a month now! So Verizon gave me all my money back, a $50.00 gift card, and the phone!

What am I suppose to do? Call them up and say, "Hey, you forgot to charge me for my Blackberry Storm." I don't think so.

No wonder the economy is in the toilet!

What you have done is called stealing. You should talk to Verizon.

Um, excuse me. I didn't steal anything. Verizon screwed up. I did everything I was suppose to do, it's not my fault they didn't bill me. I didn't tell them to refund my credit card and I'm sure as heck not going to go through the hassle of explaining this.

They told me I was suppose to get a 20% discount on my bill if I signed up through my wife's employer. It turns out the 20% only is on the plan, not on anything else. Did they steal from me?

That is called a mistake. If you made a mistake would you expect the other person to show you some form of compasion or mercy, or would you rather that person take advantage of you as you are doing to Verizion?

Call it what you will. You owe them money and you know you do. Its your conscious not mine.

You must be unconscious if you think for one minute I should have to pick up a phone and try to explain this to them.

Like I said your conscious not mine. You don't have to do anything. I'm not holding a gun to your head. I stated what I thought of the situation that is all.

FYI, the word you're looking for is conscience.

This actually happened to me a few years ago and I did call my verizon rep...after explaining the whole situation to a few different people they told me to keep the phone and that they screwed up and could not go back and charge me for it. So even if you did call they probably would not take your money.

There system, from what I understand, would not let them backdate a charge of any kind, it is a technical problem without a solution so they just said keep it no charge. I have found that with many big companies, if there is no form to charge you the "joe blow" CSR cannot do it...

Keep the phone, keep Verizon they are a good company.

I like free stuff as much as the next guy, but this is a case of doing the right thing. The right thing in this case would be to call Verizon and at lease inform them that they made a mistake. Will they charge your account? Who knows. Maybe they will say it was a fault of theirs and let it slide.

Regardless, I echo the opinions of others in here. I think you should call them. Good karma is something you want on your side.

Technically, they CAN backbill you for a period of time after the initial transaction ( I believe it is 90 days, but I'm not positive about the length of time).

Wow this is quite an oversight... whether you should notify them or not I think should be based on your opinion of Verizon service to date and whether you want their fate to be a tiny bit more positive or more negative

You would not have posted this if you were not already feeling gulity so at least pick up the phone and let them know. You probably wont have to pay anything but you will feel much better.

I believe legally it is technically stealing, well I can't remember the term. Especially when you know something is wrong and don't do anything about it.

For example, its like a bank error in your favor and an extra $1000 lands in your account.

Same thing applies, if you walk pass an ATM and it starts shooting out money, you can't just take it.
