Default OS: 9900 7.0.0.503 (Multilanguage)

BlackBerry official Handheld Software v7.0.0.503
This will install to any carrier's 9900 by following the instructions below.

File name: 9900_7.0.0.503.exe
File size: 216MB

Download the OS file here: Updateservice

Instructions for installing on the 9900:
1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml." Vista/Win7 users: In the apploader folder, simply click on "Compatibility files" to see the actual Vendor.xml file. Once you've got that - simply delete the vendor.xml file there (even if you've deleted or think you've deleted it in the folder previously) and voila, it will allow you to update to the newly installed OS!
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process may take up to 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a black "BlackBerry" screen with a status bar for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again, and it should load the OS to the device.

Just went to download. Doesn't look like the usual RIM download page. Kinda sketch if you ask me.

It's legit. Mobile Provider "A1" is in Austria, a vaild RIM/BlackBerry download.
Nothing to worry about.

It's one of those things, if you don't know what you're talking about, then don't.

Before I loaded .540, I was on .503 for 4-5 days. Battery improved with .440 and I saw moderate gains again with .503.

.540 seems to be about the same as .503. It will never be a 9780 regarding battery life, but it's not horrible anymore, as it was in earlier f/w releases. Don't know what they've done, but it has improved. One thing I find strange through all releases, is when I enable WiFi, it takes a long time before the services switch over to WiFi and at that, it will go back to Mobile network for all services after the phone has been somewhat inactive for a while. It detects and connects to the WIFi network within seconds, but when I go to manage my WAP's on my network - I can see that there is a "sleep mode" in the WiFi status on the phone. That's something that's only showing up on the BB's and nothing else that's wirelessly connected to my network. There are 6 WAPS's in an array here, so signal is very high everywhere in the house. That's obviously not the issue with the BB not using the WiFi services...but I can't explain why the services take so long to switch to WiFi - and why they don't remain there for long when the BB activity is low. The WiFi being on and not used, actually depletes my battery faster than not being on at all, since communications end up on the Mobile network anyway. Consequently, I don't use WiFi on the device.

I think .540 is official from Turkcell:
