Default Any Gmail-RIM reconciliation plans?

Please Login to Remove!

I know I can set up a series of filters to keep sent messages from the handheld, forward messages, avoiding duplication, etc. No issues with that.

But is anyone aware of any plans RIM has to enable true reconciliation with Gmail, like they currently have with Yahoo! mail, for BIS users? I definitely prefer Gmail to Yahoo, although rumors are the new Yahoo surpasses Gmail in every way... but all my labels in Gmail and the organization system I have going on in there is too good to abandon.

---> WOOPS. I meant to put this in a different forum, sorry. Migrate if needed!

---> Second edit: In another thread I searched, a forum member stated the following about his Gmail accounts:

Quote:
Yep, i'm on TMO with 5 different POP accounts set up on the BIS and they reconcile whenever i've checked online.
Does this mean true reconciliation IS now available via POPing in Gmail? And I'm just reading old threads? Thanks all.

I don't think it's possible to get true reconciliation with gmail over pop.

Yahoo has pretty much real time reconcilliation with BBs, I'm not sure how they worked it out, but I'm sure hoping Gmail does the same thing! If anyone knows if they have plans to do so, or a date they're trying to get it done by, post here!

Google scares me, but I can't stop being fascinated by them.

The new verision of BIS will work correctly with pop and imap accounts not just forwarding like it does now; yahoo mail will be like BES (instant). T-Mobile has a verison that does it now but Cingular hasn't upgraded yet. I really like it much better than BWC type email. There are a few threads on this board and on forums.cingular.com which have more features listed.

As for the google comment, I agree. From what I've read, they keep search data indefinately and can link an ip address with search results and using cookies on your pc can determine what you actually searched and the pages you clicked. Any wonder why the goverment would want that data?! MSN does the same, AOL only keeps the information 30 days. Now google is keeping files from your desktop pc on thier servers if you use the google search and select search from any pc. Too big brother for me.

I have a ridiculous amount of Gmail accounts, and I forward all of them to one master Gmail account. I can send as any of the other accounts using Google's account linking, but I tested the POP yesterday w/ Apple Mail and the system I set up messes up the copies I send out and brings them back into my POP inbox.

Great. I'll have to think of something else, then.

So let me just reconfirm... the only difference between what a T-Mobile-Gmail POP offers and a T-Mobile-Yahoo new BIS is the push e-mail?

If that's the case, I can handle the few minutes of delay; Gmail's pretty fast in their POP turnaround anyway.

Thanks!

Well, true reconciliation. So Y! gets a copy of your sent messages, reply status, etc.

See my page on Gmail from my tips site. Yes to my knowledge Yahoo has full reconciliation with TM BIS which Cingular is supposed to get in April. This means read marks, deletes, folder moves, etc.

To my knowledge, gmail is not going to have this yet, but I assume they will get on board.

I'm getting a little off topic now, but Google also has a reader: http://www.google.com/reader/things/intro.

If anybody can point their 8700 to it, let us know how it performs.

Like I said, totally scared of Google but I know I'll be suckered into alot that they do because everything is FREE! Oh the horror.

As I said in my prior post, it is supposed to be April, but it may slip.

Thanks for trying.

I imported my feeds into the reader--don't like it. Not user-friendly. Going back to Bloglines.

If you enable Javascript on your Blackberry browser, it does work.
