Default "No Service" on the screen all the time....

Please Login to Remove!

Anyone know what the problem could be? The 8700c is not water damaged....I wiped it using JL_Cmdr and then reloaded the software onto it, still the same problem.....the phone just won't get service! I can't return it and nor is there a warranty for it, or I highly doubt there is still a warranty for it.

You may call this a dumb question... does it say "no service" on the main screen where the signal indicator bars would be?

Was this a full functioning BB beforehand?
Is the SIM seated correctly in the BB?
Is your network set to automatic?
Does this SIM card have a carrier account attached to it?
Is the BB device unlocked for the carrier you have?

1)Yea no service on the main screen.

2)
When I go to "network" it just says "*NONE*" so how can I set it to automatic?

3)Yes it worked before, I have no clue how this happened.

4)The BB is not unlocked but I am using a Cingular SIM so it shouldn't be a problem.

Sim card is correctly seated.

I assume you have a data plan. Can you make a call or send/receive data?

Might try pulling the battery and letting the thing reboot. That seems to solve many ills.

No need for the foul language, I know you are frustrated, but keep it clean.

Go to Options, Network, highlight over the Network Selection Mode, and press the ALT key to see the choices MANUAL or AUTOMATIC. Select automatic. Click SAVE.

Yea, like Dubdub said, try pulling the battery to reboot the device.

Good luck.

And you are absolutely sure the SIM is correctly seated?

If you go to Options, Advanced, SIM CARD, does it show you a SIM ID #?

ok, dumber question. Where did the phone and SIM card come from? Do you have an active Cingular account.

What was happening to it before you wiped it and loaded the new OS?

I bought the phone on eBay witht he known proble that it stopped working....I do have an active Cingular account. The same problem was happening before I wiped it, hence the reason I wiped it, but that didn't fix the problem.

ok, well that helps to know. And the seller couldn't get it to working either, hence he sold it. I don't know anything else to suggest, perhaps someone else will chime in here.

Since you told me post #4 that it worked before, I assumed you mean, as I asked, immediately before. I feel sorta duped and since you knew it was a NON-working device when you bought it, you should have said that up front.

Good luck, I do hope you can get it working.

Well sorry about that....I thought you were asking if it ever worked...so I assumed that it had to have worked for the person who I bought it from before it started acting up.....thanks for all the help though! I do appreciate all your effort.

Wirelessly posted (8700g: BlackBerry8700/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

You are welcome, It could have been reported lost (or stolen--who knows?) and the PIN/IMEI has been locked by the carrier.

Sure there is another explanation.
I gave it to you in the first reply in this thread.
It could be broken.
