I have a 8300 that was recycled (we gave it to a new user)
The new user gets gmail email from the old users gmail account.
I have reseted the unit and still same problem.
Any clues?

u'll have to call the carrier and explain the situation to them and they can remove the bis account from the device.

this happens to me on occasion. sometimes i can guess the users login/pass and manually remove it, but i usually just end up calling the carrier.

All configuration was done by us. We have BES in house.

The new user had a service book form the old user that was for the gmail account. This was deleted some time ago and all was well. New its wrong again.
BTW, what is the correct procedure to recycle a device?

because gmail goes through bis, not a bes. the bis stuff is housed by your carrier.

The BIS is configured by the PIN of the device. Because that user created a BIS account and setup their personal email with it using the PIN of that device, the mail will be delivered until the association of that BIS account to that PIN number is removed, either by the person who created the BIS account or by the provider.

This has only happened a couple of times to us, but it has brought up some policy talk on how users can utilize devices owned by the university.

For what it's worth, we had the exact same problem in the past and the service provider was very good about resetting the BIS password so we could go in and wipe it all away from there. Less then 10 minutes on the phone.

However, since the device is on a BES, couldn't you utilize a policy to prevent BIS accounts thus stopping these messages from getting through?

I think if you go to Internet Mail setup you can deactivate the BIS to that device PIN.
Might not even need a password.

Otherwise the carrier can zap it for you.
