"Invalid SIM Card" on Cingular 8800
Please Login to Remove!
Just got my Cingular 8800 and inserted my SIM card and lo and behold, got an "Invalid SIM Card" message on the device.
It's an AT&T branded card that I've always used in other BB devices, including my 8700c and have never encountered this problem.
Any ideas??

You must mean the 8100?
Go into any Cingular store and grab a new SIM card. Make sure you get one of the new 3G cards. They will give it to you for free.
That should fix it!

No worries, I wasn't dogging on you!
Just go grab a new SIM. I do it every time I hear they release a new one.
Usually will give you better signal strength and sometimes improved battery life.

If you have an original Blue AT&T card, it needs to be changed to either a 64 or 3G Orange. Since the merger, the older AT&T cards are not compatable with the newer equipment. They will sometimes work but AT&T does not recommend their use in the newer phones. Rather, call Cingular/At&T and order a replacement Sim.
Good luck...

Hey, I did a search and found this thread...
I just unlocked a Cingular 8800 and have the same "invalid sim" problem with my Rogers sim. The sim is probably a couple years old... are you guys thinking I need a new sim card to fix this too? They just give them to you for free at the Rogers stores?
Help is appreciated.

holden and jprior,
yes and yes. track ball color program is listed, do a search for it.
as for the sim card, they should be able to give a newer card that should fix the problem. i had same problem with at&t with the 8800 and it needed the newer sim card

The trackball program will NOT work on the 8800. The 8800 lacks the colored LED's underneath the ball.
