Anyone tried this out yet? Looks like it's free for beta.

Looks interesting . . . unfortunately, I have an unlisted number, so I can't use Jott. The setup process referred me the the *** page for advice but I couldn't find anything useful there. So I'm stuck!

Ha Ha . . . I typed F_A_Q and got edited by the profanity robot!

I'm not sure why an "unlisted number" poses any issue. Caller ID identifies all calls to tollfree numbers. Have you actually tried it?

from the terms of service:

Advertisements on Jott Services. As consideration for using the Service, you agree and understand that Jott will display ads and other information adjacent to and related to the content of your jotts. No jotts content or other personally identifiable information will be provided to advertisers as part of the Service.

Still gonna give it a shot

This looks cool at first try- great for quick reminders to myself.

This also might be great for someone using To do Matrix and the inject feature- Jott yourself then inject it later as a to-do.

I will have to see how it works in the real world- while driving on speakerphone.

I signed up and tried sending one, but it hasn't come through yet. I'll give it a little while to catch up - maybe a bunch of people are signing up.

Default If you use this for business, becareful......

How do I keep my phone jotts from being transcribed by other people?

Our transcribers have no way of associating your personally identifiable information with the recorded jotts they are transcribing (unless, of course, you make that information part of the recording). They operate in a 'clean' environment that is also used for transcribing sensitive medical dictations, with no tools or other equipment that would allow them record or make use of this information. Finally, we have very strict confidentiality guidelines for our employees and agents, and violations of these guidelines can lead to termination or other legal action. Nevertheless, we understand if you would like to transcribe your own jotts. If this is the case, simply go to the Jott.com setting page, and click the checkbox next to "Do not transcribe my jotts". It is very easy to transcribe your own jotts on jott.com.

So far So good. YOu can import your contacts via yahoo, gmail, etc. To send a text message or email all you do is call the Jot #, speak the name of the person in your address book. Speak your text or email (up to 30 sec) and Jot translates it and sends the text or email. It has been suprisingly accurate so far. Also, if you are in rela estate, they have a program that syncs with Zillow.com. Call Jott, speak the address and it sends you the Zillow estimate for the property value. I am trying this right now. I will let you guys know how it works.

I noticed you're on Verizon. Have you been able to Jott text/sms to other Verizon users? I have not, and others seem to be having this problem on the Jott forums. I can Jott email however. Can't get regular texts to work or messages to [mobilenumber]@vtext.com either.

Thumbs up

I've been using it for a few days now. I'm pretty impressed. I still haven't figured out how to tell Jott to send to either an e-mail address or to a SMS number if you have both in the contact list. Transcription has been pretty good. I find myself taking notes to myself a lot more often now. And I love it for being able to voice respond to an e-mail or txt!

I haven't been charged a penny for any of this service. I do see that the e-mails come with some advertising. No big deal that I can see.

This one is a Thumbs Up for me.

Edit:Where did you find this...I just reread the whole web info section...

I did not realize that people where transcribing the voice notes. I thought it was voice recognition software. That is weird- these are my notes to myself and it is odd to have someone hearing it and writing it out. I did not pick up on that when I read the TOS.

Of course I have tried it! How else would I know that it wouldn't work for me?

There is absolutely no charge/fee whatsoever. The catch really is that they are in BETA right now and once 1) they're out of beta and 2) you're hooked on it - they will start charging. Nobody knows how much.
