All I want to do is track where my daughter goes, preferably without her knowing. She has a 8110. Suggestions please.

You should just lock her up in the basement instead, might be easier and cheaper.

I agree with the "Wow" statements but not the one I quoted. I know it was meant as humor, but there are sick people in this world that so sick stuff like this and you never know who you're talking to on the other end of this forum.

OP, you're the parent, your daughter is 13 (according to your other posts), if you don't trust her with a BlackBerry/cell phone, then don't allow her to use it. Problem solved.

I think he means it as a precausion, in case something happens or if she is late and not answering her phone or emails then can track to see where she is, now to be sneaky and to track her moves then I believe that is wrong, but as a parent wanting to know where your kids are then by all means.

I believe there is an application called instamapper which allows for satellite tracking of a GPS enabled blackberry. Also a service called SmrtGuard provide similar locating features. Although I don't believe either of these applications are undetectable as they are running constantly and can be found in the Applications menu. There are other alternatives to these applications, mostly used for tracking a lost or stolen device.

Thank you.
AT&T has a feature called: AT&T Family Map which allows you to locate family members at anytime, as well as scheduled times (such as when they're supposed to have already come home)

From the AT&T site:
With AT&T Family Map you can know where your kids are at any time, so that you can feel more comfortable as they become more independent. AT&T FamilyMap allows you to check where your children are from your PC or your cell phone and request location updates at any time or receive scheduled updates like when they are supposed to be arriving home from school.

Hope this helps.

I deal with a lot of parents who have lost control of their kids. Chronic run-aways, hanging out with the wrong types, etc. The parents find that at least if they disappear, they have a cellphone to contact them to make sure they are ok. I completely understand the original poster's request.

Default I think the goal is personal safety and security

There are a number of location based services (LBS) on the market these days, and many more social networking solutions that can tell you what popular night spot your friends are currently visiting. However, none of those applications can initiate an emergency call for you, or your daughter, in times of need.

I'm presently launching an application for the BlackBerry that connects and directs friends/family or professional security to your location in your emergency.

Moby can issue a series of alerts, triggered either by you or automatically, that sends an email and text from your cell phone to your chosen friends and family updating them with your safe status. The message also includes a link to a Google map with your exact location. All these alerts can also be monitored by a professional security company who can dispatch your local fire, police, and ambulance service direct to your location. The software works on your existing cell phone, so there's no need to carry an additional device.

A free beta program begins in April. Anyone can sign up at mymoby.com. 250 participants will be selected to receive the software and in exchange have a chance to win $1,000 in prizes.

This tool might be something both you and your daughter could agree to use together.

I use InstaMapper. It is very reliable and free. The app can be setup to launch on boot and will run in the background.

+1 on instamapper.. Its main use is actually for keep track of your phone incase it is lost or stolen..but it would work for you circumstance.. you view a real time map of the phone's location from any computer by visiting their site, or from their mobile site from a web enabled cell phone.. the app runs in the background and doesn't really effect much for battery life...best of all..its free

I always wanted a way to track my own phone, only without any online server! I like to keep my privacy.
