Yes... Did you notice if you downloaded a ".jad" file? That extension is for an OTA download.

You need DATA for the mapping/routing to work. Data generally costs MONEY.

Pretty funny actually:

I got a new 8330 the other day and I really wanted to play with the various GPS mapping applications today. Like you say, the download links for this program time out. I get this for Garmin's download/login site: "Site Upgrades in Progress" and I can't log into the application that came on my phone (the rebranded Telenav application) and have been sitting on hold with Bell for 20 minutes waiting to find out why. Ever get the feeling you're the first one to ever do something?

Looks like it's working now. Just downloaded and installed it on my 8310. Haven't really used it for a trip yet, but so far it seems to be the best free (for the next 180 days) GPS Nav program for BB.

That's the part that worries me. I have little interest in paying a monthly fee.

I'm still waiting for feedback on the Garmin application (I'd rather pay $99 one time than $10/month).

Garmin is pretty good in GPS navigation on my 8800. In fact, after using it for several long trips to unknown locations, I was able to get to my destinations without fail. I would recommend Garmin for people who wish to keep it simple (one-time fee and maps) while having a brand-name, reliable GPS application at the same time.

I'm not that worried. I think GPS Nav on the BB is fairly new, and when the free trial is over in 6 months, I'm sure there will be a lot more options available.

Question: I've never heard co-pilot say street names at turns. Anyone else had the same dilemma?

Any data transfer that happens for any program, you would have to pay to your carrier according to your plan. Co-Pilot couldn't negate that.

Didn't see any info on eventual pricing...their laptop version (SW only) is $149. However, it doesn't appear to say explicitly if that's a subscription, one-time fee, or if there are device change restrictions, etc.
