Background:
We have a mixed environment in the middle of migrating from Domino 7.0.4 to Exchange 2010.

Environment:

• Exchange 2010/BES 5.0 MR2
• Domino 7.0.4/BES 4.1.7 MR2
• Binary Tree used for coexistence

Scenario:

1. User creates meeting invite in Outlook and invites colleagues (UserA, UserB and UserC).
2. UserA is on Exchange and accepts the meeting from Blackberry. The meeting response is sent and UserA shows as 'Accepted' in Meeting Tracking from OWA.
3. UserB is on Domino and accepts the meeting in Lotus Notes. The meeting response is sent and UserB shows as 'Accepted' in the Meeting Tracking from OWA.
4. UserC is on Domino and accepts the meeting from BlackBerry. The meeting response is sent however UserC shows as 'No Response' in the Meeting Tracking from OWA.

Question:
Does anyone know why the meeting accepted from the Domino BlackBerry would not show as accepted in the meeting tracking?

Known issue and there is a patch for 4.1.7 at least for accept and reject.

Thanks for your response. We have mentioned this issue with our RIM Support however they have not indicated it as a known issue. If you have the DT# I'd appreciate it so that I can share that with our SAM.

Hi,

I have not found any DT number. But I can tell you that the fix consists of a patched version of NBES.EXE. It was named a quick fix - may be this is not publicly available.

The root cause for the issue is that the UID field in the ICS file is not reused when processed by BES. As of RFC 2445 the UID is the unique key for the calendar entry and therefore the other application (Exchange, GoogleMail,...) can not find the corresponding calendar entry.

You can rebuild the scenario quite easily with GoogleMail as you have direct access to the ICS attachments there. When you compare the ICS attachment when accepting/reject on BlackBerry vs. Notes, you will find that a new UID is created whenever you do that on the device. It was quite easy to convince RIM that that is a bug in BES (and not in Domino and not in CoExistence solution ...)
