Hi Everyone

This is my first post to this forum so please excuse me if this is a repeat question. I am a first time user of Blackberry phones and recently started using Blackberry Pearl 8100 series phone.

I have created some custom rules in my outlook so that emails from specific sources go to custom folder (non- Inbox) in my outlook. When I receive an email which is transferred to the custom folder by the rule, I realized that I do not receive a notification of a new message in my Blackberry device unlike messages received in Inbox. I can browse to the custom folder and view the message in the blackberry device but I want to receive a notification when there is a new message regardless of whether it is in the Inbox or it is in the custom folder due to the rule set in Outlook.

Can someone please let me know how to receive notifications of all emails, no matter what folders they are going to?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

If any one has any idea can you please provide this information?

The question in short is:

Can I receive notification of a new message for emails going to my custom folders (non-Inbox) set by my outlook rules?

If yes, how?

Currently, I am not receiving notification of new messages which are in any other folder than Inbox but I can view the emails if I look in to the specific folder.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

When you check the message on the handheld does it show in the Messages list with a folder icon rather than an envelope? It should show in the messages list and should display a notification on the home screen. Any message that shows in the messages should give you a notification. Check your Message options to ensure that filed messages are not hidden.

Messages> Option> General settings I think and look for Hide Filed Messages. Turn it off and test again.

The notification should be the same as your regular messages.

You need to add the sub folders (or custom folders as you called them) to the email redirection settings - on the handheld go to the message list - bring up the menu and go to email settings, the bring up the menu again and choose folder redirection. You still want hide filed messages turned off as the message will appear in the inbox for you to read it once then disappear as it is "filed" in the sub folder
