Cool Blackberry Bold White on white

Please Login to Remove!

Hello,

I am anticipating the arrival of my white parts for my blackberry bold which will soon look like the all white Nokia E71. I have checked out the assembly videos they have on youtube. Other than that is there anything I should worry about or lookout for? How would i fry the blackberry mainboard or damage anything other than physically poking at it or what not. Any tips and tricks about this will help me big time. Thanks guys!

It's pretty straight forward. I don't think you will have any issues doing the conversion. Be sure to post some pics. It's gonna look really hot I think!

I am also very interested in how this looks. I am too cheap to spend a lot of money doing this myself, however.

Good luck with the mod.

Also, check out this string for details on the bezel change:
http://www.blackberryforums.com/hard...nake-skin.html

Full props to poster michaelalanjones (also posted above) who did loads of typing to detail the step-by-step of the bezel change. I added some other tips in my last post in the string. I think the bezel change instructions take you most of the way. It is probably the tough part, anyway. Once it's opened up the keyboard is a separate piece, so it should be straightforward to swap it.

I didn't do a trackball swap, but I've heard that trackball assemblies from CNN may require you to flip the magnets to make it work properly. Do search in the forums for "trackball".

(if you go the Hardware & Accessories forum, you'll see loads of posts about mods) (in fact, I'm expecting a BBF moderator to move this string over there)

Pay attention to the various warnings about grounding yourself and discharging the capacitor. I'm no electronics technician, but there is some risk of frying your BB.

Good luck (and I'm looking forward to pix, too.)

(pg)

Where did you get the black bezel, and did it come with the buttons? The ones I have seen online did not come with the buttons... what's that all about?

If you go to cnn.cn it has the black ball, black bezel and a lot more. Black is pretty common, on that site they have everything you need even the black buttons. I have found that white is the rarest to find amonsgt the colors. Only one place had the white that I've seen so far(keep in mind haven't been looking for long).

First of all, my apologies for hijacking your thread.

I have been looking for the black parts, so I can only imagine how difficult it is to find white ones. I am sure, though, by the time you are done with it, it will look beautiful. I'd like to see photos of the finished product.

Ebay has TONS of colored parts, including full housings with colored screens and keyboards and colored trackballs. I bought a titanium back cover and bezel but the bezel didn't have the buttons so I ordered the black set from CNN, still waiting for them.

Yup Ebay has lots for sure. Im STILL waiting for my white parts, I wanna see how the white will look with the chrome buttons. If it doesnt look good I will be getting different color buttons from cnn or somewhere else. Dont worry guys, the pics are coming. Im literally dying now, the wait time is nuts.

Alright, well, some progress. I sucessfully transfered the white bezel and backcover onto the Bold. Since I orderd the keyboard from a different location, I have to wait until either tomorrow or the day after to receive it. I think it looks pretty sharp as is. It's a bit after midnight where Im at so I will post some pics tomorrow. Well see it as a white bold with black keyboard. Stay tuned, the full white conversion pictures will be coming soon.

COMMENTS ON HARDWARE
Very hard to keep buttons in while placing on bezel.
The battery cover seems to just not fit right(do we gotta break that in?)
The keyboard that came with the bezel and backdoor had faulty G and H keys so I just used the one i had. Hopefully the white one works flawlessly

>>Whats the fastest way to post a picture on here?<<
Thanks!

Looking forward to seeing the pictures. You can host them externally and simply provide a link (using the Go Advanced feature and the ADD PICTURE option), or you can simply upload them as attachments to your message from your desktop (again, using the Go Advance feature and the paper clip ATTACH FILE option).

Sorry for the delay guys. So this morning before work, I assembled the white(well off white silverish) keyboard onto my all white bold. I will be posting pics as promised either on my lunch break or when I get home. I really like the looks of it and hope you guys do too. Leave comments and feedback if you would like. All comments are appreciated whether it be negative or positive. TTY soon!

Default I like that. Here I am with my croc skin

Now, that's clean. I like that. Wonder what something like that costs? $100? $150?

I just bought one of those brown crocodile skin case backs for my Bold, [$16.99, S/H included] and I am loving that. It is just strange to people that I am talking into a phone 'made of leather'. They just don't know what to think.

I know this picture is not the best, but they frown on picture-taking in the bathroom here, if you know what I mean. I didn't want to hang around there.

I know the picture doesn't do it justice. It is tannish-brown, (not red, like the picture) and made of real leather, even though the picture looks like it is just a printed pattern.
