Default Extremely poor battery life after latest OS update

Please Login to Remove!

Can anybody help me? I have installed the latest OS, and now my battery dies after just a few hours, it used to last a few days.

Even charging it now takes a ridiculously long time. Has anyone else had this problem?

What can I do to fix it? As I will have to get a new phone if it can't be fixed, because I can't cope work wise with such a poor battery life. I wish I'd not updated the OS now.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Why not go back to the old OS?

I'm running .266 and either my battery meter is wrong or this is the best battery life I've had on the Bold. From 10:00 AM until 4:00PM with 3G, Google Latitude running, lite use, I was only down 10%.

What version of OS do you have?

Regards-Michael G.

I have installed the OS from the sticky at the top - 4.6.0.451/4.6.0.266

I seem to be the only person saying the battery life is worse - and it's not a bit worse, it's absolutely dreadful.

It went from 90% battery to the red flashing empty light in 3 hours today, when I wasn't even using it.

Dubdub - I thought the update was supposed to improve the phone and battery life, that's why I installed it.. I don't know which OS I had before this one though, this is the first time I have updated the OS..

Any suggestions?

Is it possible a 3rd party app is running and draining the battery? I had an issue with .266 with my wifi when I deleted and re-installed it corrected itself. Maybe delete and re-install. I found the battery life about the same with the old OS I had. I went from .190 to .266

Please can you tell me how I delete the OS, if I wanted to reinstall it?

I installed some games last night, perhaps I just pressed the red end call button to exit them, and they were still running. I have just loaded all the games, and exited them properly, maybe that was/is the problem, I will soon find out! Thank you.

Is there a way to check what apps are currently running?

I followed the links to previous OS and loaded .247 ran that for about two days to see what happened. I didn't see the problem I was having with .266 after about two days and decided to re-install .266 and since then everything seems to be working correctly.

The battery seems to be fine now, I think it was the 3rd party apps running in background, I'll watch it over the next couple of days to make sure.

Thanks for your help people, much appreciated as always.

I have .247 installed and I've had the best battery performance ever. I unplug my phone from its charger at 7:30 am, I have Viigo, BBM, Googletalk, WLM, Yahoo! Messenger,Gmail, Browser on BB Forums, running (all the time), plus I make/receive calls throughout the day, along with sending/receiving e-mails. I have wireless enabled and I'm on EDGE/3G and at the end of my day (which is about 9PM) I have about 10% battery still left. Before .247, I would have to have recharged by 1 PM as I would have been down to 10-15% by then doing the very same things.

Wirelessly posted (Bold 9000)

I went from the stock OS to the sticky OS and my battery life has improved leaps and bounds.

I also updated my Bold a few days ago and installed "quickpull" soon afterward. The next day my phone got very hot, I could feel it in my pocket, and the battery was depleted by 30% in less than an hour. I uninstalled quickpull, did a battery pull and it has been great ever since. I charged my phone last night, made a few calls today and it was still at 90% at 8 this evening but it was very light use today, only a few minutes browsing.

I use quickpull v2 and it does not impact my battery at all.

You can hold the menu key for a couple of seconds rather than press two keys.

Does this show the apps that are currently running, or is it a quick way to start another app?

When I hold down the menu key, it shows apps that I have used in the past few days, but are no longer using...such as browser, phone, home screen, bb messenger, speed test, goog mobile app and the messages icon.

shows the apps currently running.
browser, phone, home screen, bb messenger and messages are ALWAYS running.
Speed test and google mobile app are running in the background and causing your battery drain.
open them, and click menu-close or exit to fully exit the app.

Okay, I checked and those apps are no longer showing when I hold the menu key down. I'll keep an eye on the battery.

thanks,
