Default AIM for BB sucks

Please Login to Remove!

Im new at bbforums, i joined other forums for bb but i never received any normal responses..

i just downloaded AIM for my curve and i am extremely disappointed. I switched from a sidekick which was an amazing instant messenger phone. with the aim app on the curve i dont get sign on/off alerts, i cant see away messages, and it has a crappy format. i wish i could go back to my sidekick for instant messaging. even the yahoo messenger was much better than this one. i wanted a blackberry for so long, now im pretty disappointed with its messaging capabilities. If there are any other free aim/yahoo apps that you use that have the features im looking for, i would appreciate the help.

Welcome to the forums.

I would recommend BeeJiveIM. It's not free, but has a 30 day free trial. It's the best all-in-one IM app IMO.

It is well worth the money if you find it useful. Give it a shot and see if it suits your needs.

Yea, definitely worth it, I bought JT over a year ago and they have released some good updates, adding file transfers, group chats, MySpace chat, FaceBook chat is supposibly in the works for the next update. So the program does move forward and updates are free.

I also switched from a Sidekick and understand your frustration - the AIM client was amazing, if my Sidekick wasn't doing the two dot dance of death.

I also used BeeJive before I switched to the Storm (still waiting for BeeJive for the Storm...) and I agree that while the price tag is daunting, it is very, very worth the price. Can't stress that enough.

I bet this topic has been discussed at least 50 times before, and the answer is the same.

Its really pretty simple - there are single-IM clients which as you've found out are marginal at best, but FREE. Or there is an EXCELLENT multi-IM client, which users seem to universally love, but you have to buy it. Essentially, it's quite simple and boils down to that age-old adage: You get what you pay for! Its only $19.95 ONCE, and there are quite often $5 off coupon codes available in this forum. Is it worth $15 to get that excellent multi-IM client, or not? (Yes, I'm another very satisfied BeeJive user.)

BeeJive and FlipSide are the only two applications I have paid for, and they are both totally worth it. I couldn't bring myself to give up BeeJive when my month trial ran out!
