Default read receipts

Please Login to Remove!

is there a way to stop read recieipts from going out when someone reads a email on there blackberry?

cause my users are sending me emails requesting receipts and i don't want trhe receipts sent when i am reading the emails on my blackberry!

It is not BES that does it, but exchange. Once message reconcile as read with your mailbox it sends it. You can block it in exchange.

I found this workaround but haven't tried it.

This is how you suppress read receipts for all users on a BES 4.1.4.19. Not sure what other versions this is applicable too.

Open the registry and go to
HLKM\software\Research In Motion\ BlackBerry Enterprise Server\ Agents

Create a Dword

Name it
SuppressReadReceipts

Set the value to 2

0 is on
2 is off

Please note this will take effect for all user on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server and cannot be configured on an individual user basis.xxx8221;

Per RIM this applies to BES 4.1.4 and all later versions this registry fix. I just did this in my environment BESX 4.1.5 and it resolved my issue. Thanks

I tried the registry fix and the read receipts are still going out.
Does anyone know if this registry fix will work on Blackberry Professional Server version 4.1.4.2? Thanks.
