Well, I gave it another chance today but the stability just isn't there. I think I give this a thumbs down for now. Great idea, I would like to have one interface for all the messaging clients but I don't want it to consume most of my day keeping it working.

I'm using netlab.cz right now for Yahoo, but all is not perfect. Not sure if it's this server or not. Still playing with things and I think I'll try to find another one. My friends' status aren't updating - they show online/available most of the time and don't "refresh" when someone logs off.

stability does seem to be the main concern. I found a yahoo server - netlab.cz which works pretty well.

Not 100% happy with the AIM server the Ursine one.

But - all in all, i have been up i'd say 80% of the time. which is better than webmessanger was - at least a year or so ago.

hard to complain. Besides, i always consider IM secondary to email as far as a contact. so its mroe like a bonus.

And i keep ramble on the handheld as a backup.

But the handheld integration is just fantastic

- and, i find is much more stable if i leave it logged on, with a desktop luckly i have 2 ready to serve the purpose

Those connector servers are all free.. I suspect not many people are using them before so my expectation's low. If I want a reliable connector I guess I have to run it myself..

If i were to change my mind on using GT for all clients and wish to return to the individual clients how might a person undo things?
If i were to change my mind? that is

ps. Cuz so far it seems rather tricky and don't seem to be having sucess.

Edited due to finding a fix in another thread

thx

I had to delete the contact individually from the Jabber client.

Just configured Psi and the GT client. Loaded my AIM and Y! contacts. Haven't tried it yet but I can't wait till later this morning when I can test it fully. Already deleted Ramble so hope this works like it claims it does.

Update:
Works great. Used AIM with the 'ball y chain', Y! with my bro in SF and GT with my co-worker; all at the same time. Nice find!

you don't need a jabber account...you can just use your Gmail ID

I tried to do this and not only did it not work for me (the contacts did not show up in google talk), but now none of the mail from my gmail account gets sent to my handheld. It seemed like the mail stopped getting sent to my handheld when i tried to go through this process. Could that be why or would it be a different reason?

From the artcile in the initial post >>
What's the deal with ursine.ca? You can use any Jabber server you'd like -- you'll find a complete list here at http://www.jabber.org/network/ -- ursine.ca was just the server I used.

this does absolutely nothing. i tried several servers and registered a couple places. ursine would even let me register.

but when i could, something showed up in psi as a trasnport, but not contacts. when i tried to log in, nothing.

am i doing something wrong, or has this hack been closed?

I use it, and it works for me. I use the jabber.no server. I can't remember exactly how I set everything up, but I just checked, and it does appear to still be working.

Me and my uncle tried to get this to work for about 3 hours last Friday. I could not get AOL or IM to allow me to register. What is the trick to getting this set-up. So many people talk about how it works great, yet neither of us can get it to function after reading all the sites instructions. Can anyone post a link to a site that can clearly explain how to set this up.

Thanks!!
