Nope you can download it Here: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...93E4F3BB068C22 I would at least go with 4.5 or 4.6, your choice not much of a difference.

Once it's installed you can sync your calaendar, address book, notes and tasks with what ever program you use on your PC, example I use Outlook as do many others. It's also used for installing different apps. on your BB and to back it up incase of a problem. Oh and to update your O.S. on your BB.

Yes, or you could download it O.T.A. Over the Air, which is right to the BB. The benefit of the DM is if you have a problem you can re-sync it and re-add the apps. you have installed all at one time.

You dont exactly "sync" it your phone, but rather use Application Loader within Desktop Manager to load the application to your BB.

Good luck. Look for Desktop manager version 4.5 or 4.6.

Try uninstalling your version and use a lower version. What DM are you trying to use?

Also, when you say it is "automatically closing" does the DM try to sync your Blackberry? If you have issue with your address book, it can close the DM if there is an issue and it will close automatically. Or, if I am understanding you correctly, when you just try to open the DM it will start to open and then close?

Thx...

Are you plugged directly into the rear USB ports of your PC? Not a USB hub, not a monitor port or the ones on the front of the PC.

I get that on all three of my computers. It never worked on my main computer and I upgraded DM to 4.5 on the other two not realizing I could stay at 4.2 to get the latest OSes and now none of em recognizes my 8100.

You can also try to disable the power management on all your USB ports. Sometimes XP will cause you heartburn on this. It is a bit of a reach and may not work but you can try it to see if the issue goes away. If you go to device manager and scroll all the way to the bottom, you will see the usb devices (USB Root Hub). If you go to the properties (right click) of the usb ports, there will be a tab available at the top that will say "Power Management". Uncheck the box that says "Allow the computer to shut off this device etc" on each of the USB ports and try plugging the pearl back in.

Also, I would check here on the forum on how to do a complete uninstall. You have to remove folders after the uninstall to remove all traces of the DM.

One asumption... You have Admin rights on your XP computer?
XP Pro or XP Home?

Also again: Also did you check Minimize on Opening when you installed DM? Check to see if it's on you windows menu bar as minimized. Let us know if there is anything else we can do to help with your BB.

EDIT:
Check this link out. Maby JC Moderator here at the BB forums already has a link for this here. The link I have given you here is to a primer on how to do a clean un-install. Link here...

Good luck...

H.

Desktop manager is closing right away, no matter if I have the phone plugged in or not. I have curve 8330 if that matters.
