Default OS: 8900 5.0.0.661/5.0.0.411 (Multilanguage)

Please Login to Remove!

BlackBerry Handheld Software v5.0.0.661 (Multilanguage)

Package Version: 5.0.0.661
Consisting of:

* Applications: 5.0.0.411
* Software Platform: 5.2.0.31
* File name: 8900M_PBr5.0.0_rel661_PL5.2.0.31_A5.0.0.411_Vodafo ne_DE.exe
* File size: 129.99MB

Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

* Download Software: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...374C8919D2074E

Instructions to install on ANY 8900 from ANY CARRIER.

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

Am I overstating the obvious, but does this move 5.0 out of the Beta stage??

my first update since 4.6.1.231, make sure you uncheck the BlackBerry Messenger box in the update process so it will not be deleted.

Now...this is very STRANGE...

I'm able to login to YM or MSN messengers without the 'Mobile Network' turns on! I switched off the Mobile Network, connect to a home internet via Wifi, and both the messengers works!! How can this be? In the previous version (4.0.x) we must have the mobile network with data service in order to run the YM or any other messengers.... Any Clue..is this part of the Version 5.0 upgrade ???

Wonderful!

I can confirm that YM and BB messenger work without Mobile Network activated. Just WiFi ON.

Downloaded and have everything running just fine.

I was looking forward to trying out Visual Voicemail, but found out that AT&T hasn't enabled the feature for the 8900 yet (I tried to add the feature through the web, then called into customer service). Guess this means having to wait until AT&T rolls out 5.0...

First bug (if I can consider it a serious bug): display just lights-up for 3-4 seconds every 4-5 minutes when phone is just sitting on the desk.

Make sure you delete the vendor.xml file.

I've deleted vendor.xml, but doesn't work for me neither.

Do you have a BlackBerry Data Plan? I have read that some people without the BlackBerry Data plans are having issues upgrading to 5.0.

No, I don't. In Desktop manager it says only blackberry service subscribers can upgrade to this version.
