Anyone notice faster battery drain since installing these. Am I just overworked recently or could this program be sucking juice - maybe even when not active at all?

Well today was day 3 for me since the last charge, and will let you know the next recharge time. But I can say that the life time is still as is since I installed it, I also need to use it more to realy know how bad it does. I am not happy with the time it takes to load a map.

battery drain could be an issue. I do not leave apps running specially GPS based ones because they keep accessing more info. it is same like: if you have lots of unread emails it will drain the battery faster.

Ixxx8217;ve noticed a significant battery drain, it could be from Google Maps or TeleNav.

Haven't run google maps in a while. But when I show traffic I get nothing (no red or green on the major routes). Anyone else see this?

Google Maps battery drain
I think Google maps must be leaving the gps open in the background....
After installing gm 1.5.1, my battery life went down much quicker. Since removing gm, it has returned to normal.
Also, when starting another gps app that I have, it started the gps function much quicker when google maps was installed making me think the gps was already running....even though google maps was closed....Anyone mention this to google?

I'm changing my opinion. I can usually go most of the day just reading and responding to some emails, using the browser, etc and not see the battery indicator move off full. However, if I open google maps and play with it, I'm shortly one step off of full; and since installing 1.5.1 and playing with it, I'm often down to 1/2 on the battery indicator by the end of the day, which didn't happen before. Of course, that's my seat-of-the-pants observation, FWIW. Not sure I didn't have same thing happening when using pre-1.5.1 version of google maps.

Clarification from me: If I've rebooted and never open GMM, everything is normal. I only seem to notice a difference if I open GMM, even for only a few minutes to look up something and then close it (and I also turn off bluetooth afterward).

Last night I had a full charge on my battery. I went outside, started gmm and got a fix on my position. I then closed the program, not "quit", but just went to a different application. This morning, my radio was turned off, my battery said "low battery". Tomorrow night I'm going to try it, this time using "quit" to get out of gmm and see what happens.
