Default Screen Light Up With Sms

Please Login to Remove!

Hi All

First post as i've just got my first BB (9700)
Can anyone tell me , is it possible to make the screen light up on receipt of an sms / email ?
After years of Nokia i'm really only finding my way at the moment with the BB.
What is this PIN thing ??

The PIN is your personal BlackBerry identifier. If you go to Options > Status, you will see yours. It allows you to chat will other BB users directly without using your messaging plan....among other things.

Nope.

PIN is the PIN number of your BB, that is used to register the device with the blackberry network, and to communicate through PIN messages or Blackberry Messenger from you to other blackberry.

Ah right , so if i want to send a message i enter their pin rather than a phone number ? Just looked in contacts > edit and noticed PIN

How do you do it though ?

One of two ways:

1. Add them to BlackBerry Messenger and chat with them in the native IM app.

2. Messages > Menu > Compose PIN. Then type in the other user's PIN and send them a PIN message.

There's a free add on app called (I think) BBLight which lights up the screen on receipt of emails and/or texts.
Works great on 8900, not sure about 9700.

BerryPopup does the same thing and works on the 9700.

LeaveItOn can also be used to customize leaving the backlight on by application as well other customizations.
