Thats what I did, and it costs 19.99 for 5 MB's of data connect.
And I also tried the thing for verichat but that isn't working either way, it keeps saying i dont have the IPPP service book.

First of all - there are too many threads on this tunnel error thing to keep up with.

I've been trying to read enough of them to know what to say when I call Cingular. I called once and tried to fake my way through it, but it didn't work - the rep I got just said that if I was able to connect to the web (www.yahoo.com was here test) then the network connection was good and that is all they were responsible for.

I'm sure there is a step by step procedure, what settings to put in exactly what fields, exactly what to ask for, etc (I think I actually saw it, but getting back to finding that thread is another nightmare entirely) that can make this work, and it looks like that is what I will have to have.

Please help save a Blackberry - It's "this close" to going under a truck tire!

Thanks in advance...

Oh, guess I should give some details:
Cingular
7290
unlimited data plan
getting "Invalid Connection String: could not open tunnel - failed" when trying to start Ramble

OK - new information... sort of. Another call to Cingular, another rep that says "we don't support 3rd party apps, your account is set up properly, yadda, yadda, yadda..."

He had me remove 2 service books, which he resent - maybe I'm getting closer... now I get:
"Invalid Connection String: Malformed Address. Returning null connection"

Ideas?

UPDATE - IT FREAKIN' WORKS!

I don't know what I did, so I don't guess I can help anyone other than to say that it can work.... I logged off AIM on my desktop and it let me in on the BB - now it will let me in on both (with the prompt to disconnect the previous session) so ?????????

Thanks for all of the help... maybe the BB won't go under a truck tire after all....

this question is for rambler. or someone. is there anyway possible to use my verizon blackberry with ramble without having my calls getting dropped straight to voicemail. does every verizon customer have this problem? also even when i disconnect from aim i still have the problem. removing the battery seems to be the only option. thanks guys.

The issue with Verizon is a network one. As far as BlackBerry OS is concerned, voice traffic always trumps data traffic, and as such, all calls should come through. I have had problems in the past when I had a 7750 with calls going straight to voice mail, but I haven't with my Nextel 7520. When I researched it before, the answer was an unsatisfactory "When the networks are upgraded, this problem should go away". So perhaps when verizon BBs support EVDO it won't be a problem.

I can say this, for me the problem was intermittent. If you're seeing this every single time, I'd call Verizon and try to get some answers.

Sorry I don't have a more complete answer.

Is there an updated setting for the Nextel 7520? I have
Device Default delected in SRA options, and then
TOC Host & Port: toc.oscar.aol.com:1290

Do I need to make an adjustment, because it just sits at the Logging In, Please Wait screen...

Have you downloaded the latest version after the AOL prompted change, if you haven't go to www.sra.com and download the newest version. If you already have try port 5190 that is what I use but I am on Verizon not Nextel.

I believe I have the latest version, 0.9.10.8 is what it says in Applocations on my bb.

I didnt change the connection settings at all, they are showing what it says they should be for my Nextel.

Nextel 7520
Cellular Plan: NEXTEL (Unlimited BlackBerry)
Options -> Ramble IM -> Network Connection: Device Default

Default Ramble works fine on my Verizon 7250

As to the previous posts regarding voice calls diverting to voicemail during Blackberry internet activity (Ramble, Browser, whatever...), this is a downside to CMDA Blackberries (Sprint, Verizon Wireless, Rogers, etc.) that is not an issue with GSM Blackberries. There are plenty of previous posts that address this issue in depth with an abundance of technical explanations.

Default amble problem

I have a Nextel 7520. Ramble keeps checking sending/receiving data when I login. My battery drained in 1 day by staying logged in.

Any ideas?
