Default Alarm function?

Is there anyway to make your alarm sound for more than one minute? I tested it and found out that the alarm tone only goes for one minute. Not enough time for me to hear it and wake up in the morning. I overslept and have been late to work a few times now! LOL

There's nothing "LOL" about that!

I COMPLETELY agree with you. Whoever designed the Pearl's alarm is clearly unaware of the difficulties that some people have waking up in the morning. Being a deep sleeper myself, I have stopped using the Pearl's alarm altogether.

1. The volume is too low. (Some people need more than a little chirp to get their attention)

2. It only goes off for a minute!? (As you mentioned)

3. The snooze time is a constant interval. (We should be able to click "Snooze for..." and click on an option from a list: 1min, 5, 10, 15, 20, etc.)

4. After going on and off for 30 min or 1 hour (I can't remember which) the alarm just shuts itself off completely! When you can't hear it in the first place, shutting itself off adds insult to injury.

If there's one thing RIM got right, it's email in the palm of your hands. But everything else is a mess... they have no idea how to properly design a fully featured PIM.

I guess I've been spoiled having the opportunity to try so many different phone models from various manufacturers over the years. After 8 months with the Pearl I've decided that I've had enough.

I have never had a problem until the latest version of the OS. I'm actually going to downgrade tomorrow due to this issue.

I am using tmo OS 4.2.064. I guess I'll have to buy a separate alarm clock. My cheap old verizon phone at least had three alarms I can set and each one rang for like 5 minutes

I've been using the Pearl alarm for about 6 months now and have noticed the same problems, depending on the version of the OS I am running, some versions the alarm will work as intended, meaning it will never turn itself off.

As far as volumes are concerned, I generally like to make a high volume MP3 file for my alarm and then set the volume on Max in the settings. Wakes me up from even the deepest of sleep.

That is a good idea. I am gonna make an MP3 and make it go over and clip like crazy! Maybe that will help.

I use the "antelope" alarm set on high. It wakes me up easily and I consider myself a deep sleeper...

I used to use "Tinkerbell" until it was removed in the rogers release. That was the only alarm tone i could find that would actually wake me up.

I use Early Riser on the medium setting, and it works pretty good. I don't know if that alarm was available prior to the .94 OS, but it's definitely pretty loud.

As far as a proper alarm clock is concerned, I agree with earlier posters. The alarm function is a standard in most regular cell phones, and it should be a useable feature in any smartphone today.

This is a basic feature, but a very important one too. I agree that RIM should have put some more thought into this function because it doesn't behave the way any real alarm app should.
