Default 8520 uses EDGE even when wifi is active

Please Login to Remove!

My 8520 keeps sucking my cell phone credit even when I've specifically set all applications to use wifi only; I don't have an active data plan and I've disabled the TCP APN, but around $5 of credit has slowly seeped away in the past 3 days that I've owned it.

I can't figure out why it's happening, or which application's causing it. It's not BBM, and for a while I thought it was the hotspot browser, but that doesn't seem to be the case. I thought it might perhaps be LogicMail as well, but that isn't the issue either.
I've turned off data services at the moment because the credit just keeps dwindling. :/

I'd really like to know whether it's happening to anyone else, and how I can fix it. Thanks

Turning off the Mobile Network IS the correct thing to do to force the device to ONLY use the WiFi connection. Leave Data Services on.

You will get use of all data, but no phone calls.

What you're doing, without the BlackBerry Data Plan on your account is a gamble, as the device was meant to use data. Without a plan, you're gambling.

Alright, so I fixed it, sort off.
I just cut off the root and deleted the EDGE and WAP profiles, which means it'll have to default to wifi for internet.
It seems to be working with BBM too, which is pretty surprising!

WiFi technology is based on the 802.11 family of standards for networks and uses a radio frequency of 2.4 GHz.
