Default Moving :WM vs BB tips

Please Login to Remove!

hello guys and thanx for your great job in this really-rich-of-information forums.

i would like to explain notes and tips for people having similar situation as mine, which is migrating from windows mobile to Blackberry, I have been using windows mobile for 5 years now (pda2k imate and HTC tytn II) , and now finally changed it to 9700

1: contacts : easly synchorized with outlook, got in BB from the desktop manager.

2: calendar: same as contacts.

3: files, where backed up because most were on SD card of the windows mobile, but i had problem with the windows mobile notes, which is pwi format, i just used amber converter to make them as txt and saved them to my pc, while BB can edit them or update more !! also in BB there is memopad which looks nice but don't know how to open them alone in pc yet

4: software: its well known that windows mobile is spreded more and has more options and software, therefore u will find problem finding all ur software if u were depending on them using windows mobile? specially the advanced dictionaries.

first impact was great:

what actually messed up and started to feel cofused between BB OS and windows mobile were :

negatives of BB over WM

- sms view - conversation instead of folders
- ring tune only rings once!! no matter how much tried so far - its 9700 version only problem as i read...
- youtube is not workign and always asking for switching to WAP and gives error in red!
- only one alarm set in BB can't customize the weekends, while windows mobile has 3 easily customize the days...
- BB is not touch, while windows mobile is touch screens all over
- hard to find the accessories and replacements like u can do for WM

the positives of BB over WM:
- better view messages, defaults are always better to see, customized to your needs exactly!
- easily connect, get online in no time with all-the-time connected and tuned-up
- blackberry messenger is just "fantastic"
- msn messenger is easier to use then WM - even is microsoft baby hehe
- software are smaller and easily installed, no complications and CABs and cracks as in WM
- pictures viewer is much easier to navigate and use
- very flexible and sorting options especially in the home icons
- no pens or styles' to loose all the time and buy new
- smaller, thinner, and less weight to curry
- holster option (even didn't try it yet) but its invention by its self..
- elegance view, i really would hit my head in the wall from windows mobile ages same view, slightly changed
- BB has such nice forums to get information and meet great people

thats what i remember, if u have problems in WM to BB lets share it and try to solve together.

cheers

The things you may consider negative may not be considered negative by others, ie the threaded sms. It was requested, so RIM gave it to us.

And there is a touch screen blackberry, it's a new area for RIM, they are working on improving it. Not everyone likes touchscreens, I don't, I don't like how mussed up they get.

And accessories and replacements are easy to find! Just click any sponsor link in the ad's and you'll find many sites with the things you are looking for.

As for your negatives, there's an app for #1, a setting to change for #2, an app for #3, a setting to change for #4, touchscreens suck for #5 ;), and dedicated shops for #6.
