Do you have a Blackberry Data Plan? Does the Wi-Fi icon on your home screen turn white or is it grey?

Some carriers require that you also have the BB data plan before they will push the proper WiFi service books to the device. I think Rogers is one, but not sure.

Check to see if you have a "hotspot" browser and if so try they. You could also try installing Opera Mini.

But again, if you don't have the WiFi service book, nothing will work until you get it.

If Rogers requires a BB data plan and includes the WiFi service book as part of the plan, you will not be able to use WiFi unless you have the BB data plan on your account.

WRONG!

The 9700 ships out of the box with WLAN service books pre-installed as part of the image. I've proven this by installing on a Telus unlocked IMEI/PIN and purposely left the SIM card out and after initial boot off Rogers firmware still booted up and connected to my WLAN.

Formerly Rogers DID require a data plan. HRT is no longer required.

I'd suggest on your router to check if MAC filtering is enabled. If so turn it OFF or better yet enter the MAC of your BB Device. and restarting your WLAN. Connection is a good thing - meaning the service books are working; but no default gateway or proper ip is associated with the connection.

to proove me wrong, connect to another open wlan that doesn't do any filtering and if you cannot EVEN with teh wireless radio off then is a setting. If not then I'm

WRONG>
